Inside Jordan Thomas’ Vokey SM11 Wedge Fitting

For Jordan Thomas, a Vokey SM11 wedge fitting comes down to the shots he needs to trust most: clean contact, controlled flight and spin that holds up when scoring matters.

Jordan is a competitive adaptive golfer and the founder of the Jordan Thomas Foundation, which helps children gain access to prosthetics. Golf has become part of that larger purpose, giving him a place to compete, push his game forward and use the sport as a platform for something bigger.

At the Titleist Performance Institute, the focus turns to the clubs Jordan relies on around the green and inside scoring distance. His SM11 fitting looks closely at distance gaps, launch, spin, strike location and how each wedge moves through the turf.

The blind grind test becomes a key part of the process. Without knowing which Vokey wedge is in his hands, Jordan works through different loft, bounce and grind options based on feel, flight and performance. For a player with a steeper move and a tendency to catch shots toward the toe, the right setup has to help the club work through the ground without making him feel like he has to fight it.

Full swings, flighted wedge shots, greenside tests and bunker shots all help narrow the fit. Some wedges dig too much. Some ask for extra manipulation. Others give Jordan the lower launch, higher spin and cleaner contact he is looking for.

By the end of the fitting, the SM11 setup gives Jordan a wedge mix that better matches how he plays, how he competes and the shots he wants to keep building his scoring game around.
