Grayson Murray Continues Winning Success After Switching to Pro V1 Golf Ball

PGA TOUR | Sony Open in Hawaii 

Grayson Murray returned to the PGA TOUR winner’s circle Sunday in Honolulu, rolling his Pro V1 golf ball in for two clutch birdies on Waialae’s 18th hole.

  • On the 72nd hole, Murray pitched his Pro V1 to less than 3 feet for a tap-in birdie to earn his way into the three-man playoff.
  • He was the only player to make birdie on the first extra hole, as his Pro V1 found the bottom of the cup from 38 ft, 7 inches. 
  • It was a bogey-free weekend for Murray, who finished at 17 under after rounds of 69-63-64-67, making just one bogey over his final 67 holes. 
  • For the week, he finished 2nd in Greens in Regulation (58/73, 79%) and T5 in Scrambling, getting his Pro V1 up-and-down 12 of 15 attempts (80%).
  • He was a perfect 12-for-12 for the week in Sand Saves (1st) and gained nearly four strokes on the field on approach shots (+1.875) and around the green (+1.992).  

GRAYSON MURRAY + 2023 PRO V1: INSTANT RESULTS 

  • Grayson Murray won in his very first start with the 2023 Pro V1 golf ball last May, having made the mid-season switch from a competitive golf ball at the Korn Ferry Tour’s AdventHealth Championship.
  • That week, after testing 2023 Pro V1 during the practice rounds, Murray put the new ball in play and posted rounds of 68-69-64-68 en route to his first professional victory since 2017.
  • Four months later, Murray won the Simmons Bank Open by three shots with his Pro V1 to lock up his 2024 PGA TOUR card.
  • His win at the Sony Open comes in Murray’s first start in 2024 and marks his third professional win since making the move to Titleist.

BYEONG HUN AN DIALED IN HAWAII 

  • Titleist Brand Ambassador Byeong Hun An played his final 13 holes on Sunday in 7 under to finish the week at 17 under and make the playoff.
  • An’s final-round 64 was his eighth straight round of 68 or better to begin the 2024 season, as he finished the Hawaii swing 43 under par.
  • His Pro V1x found the bottom of the cup for 49 birdies and three eagles across the eight rounds at The Sentry and the Sony Open. 
  • This week, An ranked 3rd in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee, gaining 4.498 strokes on the field with his TSR4 driver and Titleist utility iron setup.
  • He also led the field in Driving Distance (328.2 yards).
  • Over the two weeks, An also gained more than five strokes around the greens (+3.066, +2.039), with four NEW Vokey SM10 wedges (48.10F, 52.08F, 56.08M, 60.04T) in the bag.

CHAMPION GAMES VOKEY LOB WEDGE 

  • The winner of the Dubai Invitational gamed a Vokey Design SM9 60.08M lob wedge on his way to earning his 7th career DP World Tour title on Sunday.
  • For the week in Dubai, he ranked 5th in Strokes Gained: Around the Green (+0.98 per round) and T6 in Scrambling (10/13, 77%).  
  • The champion, who also finished T6 in the 2022-23 FedExCup, ranked 5th on TOUR in Scrambling and 10th on TOUR in SG: Around the Green last season. 
  • NEW Vokey Design SM10 wedges launched this week on the DP World Tour, with 17 players immediately putting at least one SM10 wedge in play – including four of the top-10 finishers: 
    • Jordan Smith: SM10 46.10F, 50.08F, 54.10S, WedgeWorks 60.06K 
    • Zander Lombard: SM10 48.10F, 54.10S, WedgeWorks 60.06K

Matt Griffin (Pro V1x) began the week with an 11-under 61 and closed out the field on Sunday to win in wire-to-wire fashion.

  • Griffin, the only player to post all four rounds in the 60’s, finished at 24 under, six shots clear of second place.
