What is the most demoralising shot in golf ? The shank? The missed one footer? What do you think ??

My worst shot, is the one that hit the yellow marker post and ended up 30 yards behind me, on the edge of the previous green, I didn't score well that day

For me it’s the topped shot into the rough in front of the tee when you were hoping to be 250+ further down the fairway.

For me its the Fatted approach shot, caused by lack of concertation. No other shot makes me feel more frustrated.
  5. Surely has to be the “air shot”!

I was living/working in NZ and there is a thriving inter club golf league operating - I was playing number one for my clubs third team (handicap 8 at the time) against someone off two (no shots given). I stood on the first tee with a long iron and missed the bugger ! I’d had a shoulder issue and the physio had strapped me up but I hadn’t realised how much the strapping restricted my swing until that moment - mightily embarrassed, the shirt was off, strapping removed but I still lost 6&5 (but he was 2 under at that point!)

Good question! A missed short putt for me. If I hit a poor one on the first couple of greens it can affect my confidence on the green for the rest of the round. I’ve just started reading The Lost Art of Putting by Gary Nicol and Karl Morris... hoping I can find something to help the mental side of things!
  7. I'd vote for the one-yard Chunky Chip - particularly humiliating when playing with people you don't know too well!

Has to be the shank, nothing more soul destroying and potentially card wrecking when that bad boy creeps into your game, confidence goes out of the window and you're left either fighting it or wondering when the next one will come along!!
  9. For me it’s the first tee nerves when I top a drive in front of a starter box or other groups waiting to tee of, hate that so much especially as my driver is quite a strong part of my game,I just can’t shake first tee nerves

Oh were do I start .....

  12. Air shots, thinned wedges, topped fairway shots, 2" putts missed. But the worst probably yanking an approach shot to the green only to hit the patio in front of the clubhouse and see the ball bounce and hit a first floor window. Toughened glass thankfully but still mighty embarrassing

Right now for me is shanks, topping the ball off the tee and duck hooks

I know I’ve not play for a few months but this is getting out of hand now

the 2 - 3 foot putt on 18 after you've just missed one from a similar distance on 17.
  15. Tosh.

The driver for me it’s either hooked, sliced or in the sky.......just not getting it at the moment.
  16. It has to be a bad approach shot after nailing a drive right down the middle.
  17. There's too many to list

The block push banana slice straight out of bounds on the first tee lol

Got to be the last shot of the round when you're not playing until the next day....
  20. Chunked chip off a tight lie round the green, so scared to thin it off the other side of the green I end up fatting it 2 yards!
  21. Two consecutive shanks On the tee of the third hole Dukes Course Woburn -both tee shots went 90 degrees right into trees to right of tee!!

Mine has to be the down hill lie on a little hump/Hill around the green. Nothing but a thin right though the green...

I have many times just wanted to scream out loud but I’ve decided I’m going to experiment and try a hybrid or 3 wood and try putting it ?

Anyone got any advise please thank you
