I'm heading to St Mellion in June with 3 rounds on the Nicklaus course. As I'm travelling down the day before I'm looking for a friendly course to play somewhere between Bristol and Saltash... Any suggestions ?

  2. The players club in Bristol is pretty good.

Let me know how you find St Mellion im going there in August and have great expectations.

I'll check out The Players as Bristol could be en-route...Thanks
  4. If you don’t want to take too much of a diversion it has to be Burnham & Berrow, just off the M5 past Weston Super Mare. A fabulous links course and ranked 33 in the Golf Monthly UK&I list it’s a must-play.

As a follower of Mark Crossfield on YouTube I had B&B on my list but slightly concerned that if the wind was up it could be just a little difficult for a warm up...Thanks

Depends on your proposed route down I suppose but you could do worse than Torquay or Dawlish Warren. A little but not hugely out of your way might be somewhere like Sherborne, one of the courses designed by James Braid, not overly long but not easy either.

As a follower of Mark Crossfield on YouTube both of these were on my possible list ....I'll check out Sherborne...Thanks

Let us know where you end up and your thoughts. I'll be spending a couple of weeks down near Sherborne/ Yeovil in August. If anyone is around and fancies a game...

St Enodoc or Burnham and Berrow, both classics.

    Dave M,

St Enodoc is on my bucket list but a little out of the way for this trip, B&B is a possibility ...Thanks for the suggestions.
  11. Or you could try Dainton Park near Newton Abbot, or even closer to the A38 is Stover Golf Club in Newton Abbot. Let me know your thoughts.

    All,

Thanks for all your suggestions. unfortunately plans changed and I didn't get to play on the Saturday so it was just the 3 rounds on the Nicklaus Course and St Mellion.

Quick update on the rounds... it was HOT... the course was beautiful... the course was brutal in places ... the hotel was great... I played OK won two and lost one match ... didn't play my ProV1's as lost a few too many balls.... my new 917D2 was handed over in the car park and put straight into play (awesome I love it) had to take it back to air conditioned room to cool down.... Playing home course tomorrow which will be the acid test of the driver and a welcome return to ProV1... Oh and bought the wife a present of a sleeve of Titleist Velocity in Pink (slowly converting her to #TeamTitleist ....
