When I first retired I went to work at a public course as a ranger/marshal and then a starter. It has it's perks but also it's down sides. Having to check for those trying to sneak beer on the course, when it stated not coolers allowed. Speed of play was the biggest issue. Those trying to sneak on the course on the back nine without paying. Guess kind of got tired of folks asking me to them on for free. The biggest perk was meeting so many great people from all over the world. The jobs can be a lot of fun if you get the support of the pros and staff in the pro shop.

Still play at the course, was renovated and is now #19 rated municipal course in US. Seth Raynor style and tough as nails. Loving it just going out playing and not worrying. My wife and I love traveling the world and working part time just does not fit any move.

Know you will find your niche. Again, make it fun and enjoy the the patrons.

I'm in the same boat. I had some cards printed up that state , "I do not speak English if you need help call the club house" . Works great.
