it depends how you define technology but the new phantom putters with multi-metals will be the start of many new nextgen technology putters...

IMHO, I always say if you like your putter and your making putts keep it in the bag!

Technology and materials have definitely improved. The real question is, "HAVE YOU"?

If you're holing putts, keep gaming it. I'm gaming a del mar buttonback from 2011. I change the grip every couple of years and thats about it.

As I heard over the years, it is the indian, not the arrow. Sounds like you have rather good putting skills. Some have a large collection of arrows. Keeping the golf industry in business. I play in a senior men's league and there are a couple of guys that use the original Acushnet John Reuter bulls eye (I have one, original grip, and they seem to be gaining in value) and the png scottsdale putters. That slot in the pings makes that crazy png sound. Those indians hold their own on fast greens.

A putter can last a lifetime if it works for you.
Be careful. I've seen a lot of golfers get a new putter, and a few weeks later they are back to the old one.

Putting is subjective. Everyone has a different style and mechanics that influences putts. Be honest with yourself and contemplate if you think new tech will save you strokes. If you’re someone that spends less than 20 min a day on practice or only plays once a month or less, I would say that buying a new putter just to have the latest and greatest would be fine but don’t expect better results. Seeing improvement in your game depends on what you put into it. I for one am a 10 + handicap. I spend hours practicing my short game (my course management and determining yardage kills me) but I don’t think buying a $600 L.A.B putter is going to get me to scratch or anywhere near it. I usually buy putters and wedges at a huge discount from new retail prices.

I would think the technology has impacted drivers more than putters since you got that Newport 2 in 2010, but who knows? I have a Scotty from around the same time and don’t feel like I’m missing out when I putt with newer Cams at the stores or courses, but different strokes for different folks; whatever makes you putt your best.

Id be interested in knowing if the grooves or milling on the face of the Scotty putters wear out over time like the grooves on wedges, to where it would adversely affect one’s putting? I hear pros on tour use new wedges every tournament. If a putter is working for a tour pro, I wonder how long they use the same putter?

It depends on if you feel the need for a change to a mallet style putter or to just see if it a new putter will work. Putters, if well cared for can last a lifetime. Look at Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, and other tour pros, they have used the same putter for years. I say, if your are happy with your trusted Scotty, then keep it rolling.

I have a Futura X that has been in my bag for quite some time. It still works great and I havent been able to talk myself into replacing it since it. A new grip when needed and some TLC :)

If you're putting well with it,I wouldn't change.I have a black GoLo center shaft I've had for years. Every now and then, when I get in a funk (and we've all been there) I'll go to one of the other Scotty's I have, but I always go back to the Golo.

I am putting with a Studio 1.5 that’s over 20 years old and still looks great. With putters, it is all about feel and confidence and age/technology does not matter as much.

Seems like I remember hearing of a kid named Eldrick that has been pretty successful with the same Scotty putter over his career.

Same as what most are saying…Just stick with what you’ve got if it’s still getting the ball in the hole.
