A sure sign that the USGA needs to take a closer look at how it sets up the U.S. Open is when it draws comparisons with the Travelers Championship a week later. Only this has nothing to do with the scoring. What the Travelers Championship had was noise. It had atmosphere. “I mean, the ground was shaking it was so loud,” Spieth said. “What a tremendous last four holes, finishing holes, where you can get the crowd super involved with an amphitheater setting. Crown noise is great but only if it is appropriate noise. Please no more "Mashed Potatoes" or "BabaBouies" are needed or wanted. Basically the only one entertained is the moron who does the shouting.

The Tour should look at the new generation of golfers and cater towards them and the golfers of the future. One thing that is ridiculous - long pants. If the players want to wear shorts, what is the harm? Bottom line is that the Tour needs is to look ahead and figure out what will grow the next generation of golf fans.
