After 30 years of playing and always enjoying the game. I was resigned to not having a hoke in one. When it would come up at our club, some would say, "I have 6", "My wife got one after 6 months", and several others that make you wonder why you don't play this game solo.
I was on the 16th hole at Oakdale Golf and CC, wasn't playing the best that day. We were standing and waiting for the 4some in front of us to clear the green and one of the "I have 6 HIO" was telling stories about the hole and his on the hole. The 4some in front of us were playing in the same game as we were and moved over to the tee box about 50 yards away from 16 green.
I stepped up with an 8 iron for a shot of 141 slightly over water. The ball took off about 25 feet to the right of the flag, landed and took the slope directly to the hole. The guys on the tee box on 17 made more noise than we did. Afterwards, it felt pretty good and I was glad to have the HIO insurance at the club.
I was playing with a Titleist ProV1x with a Logo from the California Governors Cup tournament. The current ball I am playing is the same ball with a personal number 62 and KEVJO on the side.
