I started golfing when I was 4 years old with my grandparents and now I'm 46. I've played over 1000 rounds of golf, and yet I've never been in a group and witnessed a hole in one.
On March 12 that changed. Playing El Chameleon Mayakoba with both of my sons, JT (12) and Paul (10). The 4th hole, 83 yards headed towards the beach, pin up front right behind the bunker. When we got to the tee box, the foursome in front of us was on the green, and the shouted back, "You guys want to play through?" And we replied, "No thanks, take your time, enjoy the round, we're not trying to hurry you."
Step up to hit my shot, and I remember from playing yesterday that the green has a big slope right of the hole, and said to my sons, I want to be just left of the hole. Clean contact, ball headed right at the stick. Hit the flag about 6 inches above the hole and directly into the hole.
We went crazy!
We were staying at an All Inclusive Dreams resort, went back to the hotel and told everyone their next drink is on me! Best day ever, so glad I got to celebrate it with my boys. A memory of a lifetime!
