After years of daydreaming about getting a hole-in-one the dream finally came true. On a hot July morning I teed it up on hole #4 at my local course. I've physically played #4 probably 80 times, over 1000 times in my daydreams. Physically my results are typically not impressive; Tee off into the lake, drop, chip up, two putt then walk head down to the next tee. I am human. A weekend golfer that loves the sport more than the sport love him. But in my daydreams! Oh, my daydreams are entirely different. I'm the club champion, the Masters Champion 15 years straight! The Best there ever was!
In my daydreams I swagger up to old #4 tee box, toss my tee into the air, everyone in my group and the #3 green watch as my tee lands in the ground perfectly from 10 paces. Then I toss my ball 20 feet into the air, as I kneel down to adjust my shoelaces the ball lands perfectly on my tee. After all, I am the best there ever was. In my daydreams I step up to the tee and put the smoothest swing on a 5 iron. The ball whizes over the lake with a slight draw, one hop and rolls straight in the hole. That's my daydream and I've played it 1000 times in my head. I love it. I do it in meetings, at dinner, in my car, everywhere I need to slip away. It's my private escape and it puts a smile on my face everytime.
Well, on July 27, 2018 at old #4 my daydream came true. I put the absolute best, smoothest swing ever on the ball. The ball whized over the lake, one hop and rolled straight into the hole. I was elated. We all cheered and laughed. I couldn't believe it. A hole-in-one! It finally happened. A real, legit Hole-in-One. I am the best there ever was!
I ended up shooting 82 for the day. An average score for me. But I played out the day with a smile and swagger that never quit. Didn't matter that I hit into the woods. Nope, I'm still smiling because I just had a hole-in-one. Nothing's going to put me off. Today I'm the Champion I've been daydreaming about for years.
So don't stop daydreaming, sometimes dreams come true. And when they do, it will be even better in real life as it was in your dreams.
Fairways and Greens (and Daydreams) my friends.
Tom,
Master Champion 15 Years Running.
