I Would love to get some opinions on what the perfect stand bag is for someone that walks and likes to carry. For me it’s between the Players 4 and Players 4UP Stadry. Thoughts Team Titleist?

Yes, i have both the 1st Generation 4UP bag and the Players 4. I am using the Players 4 most of the time and jump to the 4UP for Bandon or other places where i would walk more or it might be rainy. The 1st gen 4UP had a couple of issues i think they resolved in the current offering. First, the bag stood a bit too much upright and was susceptible to blowing over. Second, the strap pads were too thin. I was able to solve that easily by adding seat belt pads i got in the auto parts store. My issues with the new Players 4 bag are; the water bottle pocket moved to the bottom of the bag so anything in the side pocket is in the way when you use it, the zipper on the large right-side pocket run across the middle instead of the top so things fall out if not zipped up and the zipper tries to snag on clothes coming across the middle. Some people have had issues with the cross-strap holder which is on both current models. I have not had a problem with mine. Finally, the 4UP is a bit smaller diameter and more rounded so it feels less bulky when walking. These are very small issues. I don't believe anything is ever "perfect" and both these are great bags.

I have an older model Titleist stand bag similar to the Players 4 and really like it. The only problem I have is the bottom jiggles out of the Golf cart. I have to strap it in sideways. Even then, the bottom doesn't fit in the cart securely at the bottom. I've gone back to my Staff bag for cart riding. Both are great bags. I like the new Titleist 5 for my next upgrade.
  4. I just got off the phone with customer service about my 2016 Stadry stand bag. I am a loyal Titleist player and tend to use all their peripheral items also. (FJ shoes, ProV1, Gloves, and bag. I played no more than 30 rounds with it and I loved the bag until the waterproof zipper broke on the main gear pocket. There is no way to fix the zipper and it was bought 19 months ago with very little use. They will not do anything at all about it. I don't have experience with the Players 4 but I will not ever buy a Titleist StaDry again. The zipper looks great but is garbage.

Im leaning towards the Players 4. My buddies both have it and love it. I have been worried about the durability and the specifically the shoulder straps but they both have had no problems. Based on the the increased volume but non substantial weight add, the Players 4 makes the most sense. Moving away from my tried and true png Hoofer back to Titleist.

There are changes coming to the 2019 Players 4. Do some "googling" and you will find an unofficial early release of the 2019 Titleist catalog. From there you can see the new versions and color options. Might influence your decision to wait or not.

Read your post about the 2019 catalog as well on another thread. Good info Dale. Thanks!

Looking at 2019 catalog I see that the 2019 players 4 stadry adds a pocket and knocks off a 1/2 pound (down to 3.8). They also have some great colors. As soon as I can will be ordering the sleet black bag.

The 2019 bags look nice, will wait till they are available. Like the color availability and the Hybrid series.

I can't say I've been a fan of the latest model of Titleist bags. I really dislike the new strap system. Stitch makes a wonderful bag- super light weight, waterproof and has a sturdy stand.
I'm a bit of a minimalist and don't need much on the course. If all you carry is your clubs, a couple of balls and a beverage or two the Stitch bag is all you need.

My Travel Bag (Club Glove Collegiate) and my Golf Bag (png Hoofer) were destroyed yesterday flying from Hawaii to home. Im wondering if I need to go back to a hard case travel bag. Travel Bag was shredded and Golf Bag was bent and shredded as well. Luckily my Titleist clubs were not damaged. I hope the new Titleist Bags come out soon. Waiting on the 2019 line up given all the comments.
  12. I have been using the 2017 Players 4 bag for almost two years now. Overall I like the bag very much with pockets being in the right places for the most part. I have had no issues with the strap system, but would like to see the valuables pouch in a different position since it is blocked off by the cart strap on the occasions when I have to ride. Would be nice if it had a pass through like png and Sun Mountain, but otherwise a great bag. I have also had some issues with the legs not riding flush to the bag when I walk.

Will have to take a look at the new 2019 bags to see if any of these things got resolved.

Andrew, pretty common issue with the legs on these. I found i could push up the plastic band between the leg wires a bit and it will tighten up the tension on the legs. Give it a try.

Did someone mention buying a brand other then Titleist? Doesn’t sound like a “Team Titleist” player to me....

They also mentioned that they were playing Titleist clubs. That hoofer bag is a good bag and he did mention he was waiting on the 2019 line of Titleist bags to get a new one. Sounds like a Team Titleist guy to me. If you have ever been to a Team Titleist event, you would have known that there are dedicated members they do use other brands such as bags, wedges and putters, but still play the irons and driver, fairways and hybrids and are dedicated to the site. Not all TT members choose to wear the FJ brand in apparel and shoes either. I'm just sayin'. Me, I'm all in...... and welcome all member's to Team Titleist.....

I've recently changed from the previous 4UP Stadry stand bag to the newer version which with one exception is much better, I like to fact that it now has four dividers as oppose to the three on the original, this make club storage and removal al lot easier, it also has a pocket for drinks, enough pocket space for waterproofs etc. and still remains lightweight.
The exception is the new dual strap configuration its not as padded as the previous model and difficult to get it set up comfortable, with perseverance I've managed to get it right, this is not unusual when you set up a new carry bag, but I find hardly a round now goes by where the one straps webbing falls out from the clip and I have to spend five minutes trying to refit it. On reflection I wish I kept the other one.

If you don't often have to go to a single strap for a caddie, just reverse which strap overlays into the cut-through part of the cross clip. That way the other strap holds it in place. Also, if you want extra padding, I have found the fake lambs wool pads made for car seat belt shoulder straps to be a great addition. They go on and off with velcro.

thanks Dale, I've just set up the strap as you suggested, makes sense! hopefully that will hold the strap in place.

Do any of the new 2019 bags have the small magnetic pocket above the main ball pocket like the current tour staff stand bags??? I like having that pocket for my Sharpies and Range Finder.

I don't know if it will be magnetic but a sneak peek at the catalog shows some of the stand bags with a new pocket for rangefinders. Can't wait to check one out in person when they hit the golf shops. Unfortunately that will likely be right after the PGA show in Orlando so we have a few month's yet.

Totally holding out for a 2019 bag just for a rangefinder pocket!!!
My current bag is about 7 years old.

    Time for an upgrade!

    Cheers,
    Dr. K
