  1. Im looking to put a set of wedges together. Besides deciding my gapping, should my grinds and bounces all match? Or what would better for my gap wedge to have one for approach shots and my sand and lob ?I know the descriptions of the grinds and everrything are shown and bounces but as im a lefty I dont have acsess to alot of them at the only golf store nearby., I do however get good height and short rolls with a used 56,SB taylor MG1 wedge I have but I am looking to switch to vokeys, as my short game seems better with real wedges. Is it worth switching my (A) to a real gap wedge?

I never match my grinds in my wedges. Vokey gap wedges are all F grind, that being “full” for full shots, no toe or heal relief needed. I like my sand wedge in M grind to allow me to open and close the face for many different shots around the greens. I like my lob wedge to be K grind for mostly bunker play but have messed around the low bounce K and T for firmer conditions here in Arizona. I actually like having extra wedges with different grinds to switch out depending on travel locations and how those course conditions will impact play.

Well said Dale. I think a lot of people over look having multiple wedges for different playing conditions.

Like Dale noted, I too have a variety of wedges depending on the course I'm planning to play. My wedges currently have F, D, and M grinds for my 50, 54, and 58 that I use for most of my rounds. Ryan you can use the online wedge tool that Vokey has to help get you into a single wedge or a full set. Based on your answers the tool will help decide which lofts, bounces, and grinds are recommended. You can start there to get a good idea which wedges you could have. If you've got a local retailer with some Vokeys on hand you can try them out to get an idea what different bounce and grind feel like when swinging. As a fellow lefty, I know you won't likely have all the options but it's a good place to get some in hand feels.

I think most golfers have different wedge grinds for their pitching gap sand and lob wedges because they’re all meant to do different things under different conditions. Full shots, half shots, bunker shots, punch shots etc.Tight lies, heavy rough, sand etc.

My gap is a Vokey 50F, my sand wedge is a 54S and my lob wedge is a 60M. I like the variety the different grinds offer and give me options for the particular shot I’m facing.

Aside from getting fit, the Vokey wedge selector tool is great and help narrow your options and dial in what’s best for you.

    Best of luck.
