TS3 Paint Chipping

  1. Let me start by saying that I am a believer of the TS drivers! I got fitted and the numbers showed a great improvement on my drives. However, within one week of having this driver I have noticed that the paint is chipping where the crown meets the face of the driver. A buddy of mine took his back for the same reason. I have owned a few drivers by two manufacturers and have never had this issue. The TS3 is my first Titleist driver ever. I must say that I am a bit disappointed of the quality of the paint bonding. Now before someone gets insulted and starts bashing me over high hits on the face, well why didn't this happen on my other three drivers which I still have and inspected before posting this thread and none are chipping to the degree the TS did. I am really hoping its a manufacturing defect with the paint and the issue has been corrected. I would like to think that if I am paying $500 or more for a club, that its made to last. Let me know your thoughts.

You say you don't want to be "bashed" but you post here and ask our opinion? Many of us have quite a few rounds in already with our TS2's and TS3's without paint chipping. Suggest you just contact Customer Service. It almost looks like the club might have been in the bag without the headcover, banging into a 3 wood but only you know if that was the case and/or if high toe hits happened. All we can do is speculate based on your picture and what our driver looks like. Sorry this has happened to you and that you are not satisfied.

You don’t need to be bashed for posting a concern and we don’t need to speculate about what happened to your club. The only thing that should happen is all of us who have a TS club should pay attention to our clubs as we use them and you should call customer service and then let us know your results.

I don’t think anyone bashed this post. I have teed it up a bit high and gone underneath the ball once with my TS3. No chips. I admit I “crowned” my driver with a beginner swing. Also it was not on the toe. I think there was a honest comment. Maybe I was lucky or maybe it takes more than one bad shot to chip the paint.

  6. Thank you everyone for your replies. Titleist Customer Service was great in responding promptly. This and working with the golf store where I buy my clubs from, they exchanged the driver for me. I switched to the TS2 now and there is no chipping! I did notice something different on the paint finish where the crown meets the face. The TS3 has a sharp lip finish vs the TS2 has a smooth bullnose finish. I take care of my babies (golf clubs) and will never put my driver back in the bag without the head cover. Anyway, I am VERY HAPPY with the TS2.
