  1. I’m a mid handicap player that’s consistently around a (10-12). I have always struggled with my irons, but seem to have the best feel with the forged clubs. I currently have an old set of 690 MBs which are beginning to wear. I noticed when I don’t play as much my miss hits are much more severe with the blades. I’m looking to get an opinion on which route people that switched from a forged blade to a forged cavity back prefer. I have heard great things about both the 718 AP2 and the 718 CB . I’m currently leaning towards the AP2 as these seem to be the most consistent for me when I’ve been fitted. Thoughts?

AP2's will be more forgiving on your mishits. I love CB's and MB's but being a mid handicapper also I get more consistency with regards to distance on mishits.
  3. Hey Willie, I get it completely! Always played the blades ever since I was a kid. People always said 'aren't they hard to hit?" Well that could be true, but there is nothing better than the feel of the good ones coming off the face. Plus you can't beat the look. Go with what looks and feels the best for you. If you practice hard enough you can hit anything.
  4. I bought a set of 716 CBs about a year ago that replaced my 710 MBs. I can’t say enough how pleased I am. When I’m hitting it solid these irons feel better than anything I’ve ever played. And when I’m not hitting it solid, the forgiveness is as good as any cavity back I’ve ever played.

I have found mixing in TMB long irons (3-4) with the CBs is a good compromise. I mostly play AP1 due to my lack of practice time, but when I'm hitting them good, the TMB/CBs are very playable. Hope you find what works best for you.
