What is the ideal gram weight for the D17 D2 Driver? What is the standard gram weight? What gram weight would you suggest for someone with a 105 swing speed?

The weight is part of the club build to achieve a specific swing weight, which is how "heavy" the head feels. Starting with the shaft and grip, the weight is adjusted to help get to the desired swing weight. Personal preference dictates the swing weight that is comfortable.

The standard weight is the 12g unless the club was special ordered for desired swing weight or with a special shaft. I usually order a couple different weights and try them out until I find the one that feels good to me. Hope than helps.
  4. It depends on grip, grip buildup, length of shaft, weight of shaft, etc... But it does come down to swingweight. I prefer D2 which for my set up is a 14 gram weight.

Hi Scott, If you are not sure whether you like a heavier head feel or lighter, we would suggest going to a fitting day where the Titleist product specialist will have the different weights that you can try so that you have an idea of what swingweight works best for how you load the shaft. In general, if you have a quicker tempo, you may prefer a heavier swingweight so that you can feel where the head is in your downswing. The standard swingweights for the 917s vary from D5 (using the 12g weight) in the LTD White 70/Rogue MAX to D3 (12g) with the LTD Blue and D2 (using the 12g) with the LTD Red.
  6. I myself would recommend going to a Titleist Thursday and get fit. You can schedule them on here and they are free too! My fiance last Christmas bought me a 910 D2 driver, and Mitch from Titleist Canada was gracious enough to send me a weight and toolkit. I have played with the weights a lot and actually like 2 different ones. But I know as soon as I get the optimal shaft for me, those weights will be out the window. So I myself have booked a fitting so that later this year I can buy the right driver with the right shafts and weight that's Ideal for me and my specific golf swing. hope this helps
  7. hi all, have a 917D2 with the MRC Diamana LTD S+ BLUE 60 R-flex.

as per preceding posts, what is my swingweight, given that i (should) have the neutral weight, by default, that comes with the driver in the driver head (the other weight that came is the 12g draw/fade weight)? thx
