After reading all these posts about people having to choose between filling distance gaps or adding a wedge, the article below may be of interest.

I played 975F 16.5 and 20.5 fairways between 2007 and 2010.  I played 980F 15* and two Louisville Niblick persimmons (5/21 and 10/28.5) through the latter half of 2010 (I shot 42 for 9 holes the very first time out with this combo at Riverwalk Mission and that was despite a double bogey on the first hole, a bogey save on a water ball on the 3rd and a blocked 3rd shot on the last hole).  I occasionally bring along the 10 wood for the heck of it.

I changed to a 13* draw driver at the beginning of 2011. My combo from then until April had been a 2K7 Burner 7W and SQ2 5/26H.  I'm using a 910F 19* set to C3 and a Superfast 2.0 27H now (there is a back of the mind thought about a 910H 24* next year at tax time and possibly even a 27*).

I acquired the 910H 24* and 27* just recently for a pretty sinful price.  All 3 are set at B3.  I sold the Superfast.

I carry a 9.5 driver, and a 15 degree hybrid (the 909H model).  Titleist does not make a 15 degree anymore (please bring it back R&D team!!!!).  I carry 4 wedges instead of the long clubs - 48, 54. 60, 64...

    I carried a 64 between 2006-2011.  I traded a SM2 60-07 and 64-07 for a SM c-c 62-07 that year and now I am using an SM4 60-10.

I had a G10 15* hybrid at one time (2008) - could hit it about 220 WHEN I HIT IT.

If you go on this site to golf clubs, club fitting, the right clubs for you, Titleist suggests 5 sets, base on ball speeds off of driver at 165, 150, 135, 125, and 115 mph.  As a hint, the model for the 115 was a young woman and the 125 was an older gent...  Only the 135 mph setup included the 15 and 19 degree fairways.  The 2 lower speeds include the 17 and 21 degree fairway, and 24 or 24 and 27 degree hybrids.  The 165 recommended a 17 degree hybrid and the 150 recommended a 19 degree hybrid to go with the 15 degree fairway.

So if you think you should use a 15/19 degree fairway, then you do have an average swing speed for less than senior males, or the limited range of choices from other vendors has you brainwashed to think inside the box.

Interstingly enough, with a ball speed of 124 mph, and through much trial and error, I ended up with a 12 degree driver, 17/21 F and a 24 H, 5-PW AP1.  Then Titleist added "The Right Clubs for You".  Have resold several 10/10.5 degree drivers, 15 degree FW and 19/21 degree Hybrids trying to be average with little success.  In case anyone else is trying to decide what they need, forget ego and look at the Titleist starting point..

I took a look at the site and somewhere between the 115 mph and 125 mph ball speed setup is what I use (with small changes - one being I use a 19* fairway and don't carry a 6 iron).  This is also consistent with my dad telling me their pro recommends 1-4-7 wood for most of those that play their course.

The bottom line is you have to use what works best and sometimes forget about a conventional golf bag.  Ironic in my caddie days how some of us scoffed at some old guy carrying a 15 wood.

Just like Don O, my golf bag has been a bit of trial and error to end up with my setup.  During my youth and up till 2006, I played with persimmon or laminated 3 and 4 woods, 2-PW (old school where PW was like today's GW) and Dual Wedge.  I also hadn't played for 3 years prior to 2006.  Immediately found that I couldn't hit an iron above a 7 nor a hybrid above a 5H.  I did OK with a 5 wood or 7 wood (18-21*).   I wasn't quite used to the long shaft lengths of the modern metal woods, so I played with steel shafted fairways and hybrids through the end of 2009.  I basically abandoned the idea of carrying a 15* fairway since I often hit an 18 or 19* just as far.

Drivers......   I used an 11* Trimetal fairway wood thru 2006 and late 2007.   I got an X speed 10.5* from my dad with the 975F fairways as a Big Five Zero present (the X Speed was not easy to hit).   I found at that time that my shaft length is 44.5"  I carried 975F and G2 10.5* through Jan 2011.   I could hit a drive about 240 with a power fade but dead straight drives with a 10.5 neutral driver would have a high trajectory and I would hit about 220 max.  Switching to a 13* draw driver was a pure accident (I picked up my current driver, not knowing that HT loft was 13* and M flex is TM's equivalent to senior flex, and was effortlessly launching 240+ yard dead straight drives with a moderate trajectory; I've hit a few 270 yard drives and had my first eagle putt on a short par 4 last year) and I have been pleased with the results (along with my driving being the best ever and generally down the middle).  My driver is 44.5" (1.25" shorter than TM standard length and it hits more like regular flex).

I discovered "approach" hybrids in 2006.   I've carried Snake Eyes Q3A 34* and 38* hybrids (the latter was between 2009-2010 when I was having a hard time with my DIY 7 iron), a clone 35* hybrid and my current persimmon 34* (which was bought as a novelty item).  They come in handy for par 3s between 135-150 yards because you can drop the ball on a dime (important for downhill holes) and for plowing out of the rough or when you just get too lazy to hit a 6 or 7 iron to the green.

I've also had a persimmon 10 wood since June 2010 and it is currently in my practice bag.  I played it for a year until I found an SQ2 26H that I just about never missed with (and got 5 more yards with).   It was my go to club for 160 yards and I could work it down to  140 by choking all the way down the grip.  I basically beat it up pretty well.

I personally play a 3 wood and a 3h mainly because the two courses I play don't have a big gap from tee to green.  I am able to hit my 5 iron well enough to where I don't need many hybrids.
