What does an advanced fitter do that a "regular" fitter such as the "guy" at Golfsmith do?  I'm a lousy golfer that enjoys golf and would like to get better...so I recently bought some AP1 irons at Golfsmith.  6'4" 205 lbs.  37" ( i think ) wrist seam from ground.  They've ordered me 1" longer steel shafts with 1 degree upright based upon the fitting.  Sounds ok to me...just want to get "better"...  thoughts?

I scheduled my fitting with Michael Ferguson at Kinloch the day after you suggested him. They were closed for 10 days in order  to perform maintenance on the course. Mike responded immediately upon his return and scheduled my fitting at my convenience. When I arrived at the club, I was treated as a club member not a visitor! I was early as usual, not brought up to be late for anything. They took my clubs and and directed me to the fitting center range where I loosened up with complimentary range balls until the time for my fitting. Mike came out to get me when it was my time and made me feel more than welcome! We started with the wedges and went right through the bag. I was never rushed or hurried and he made sure I was comfortable with everything before moving on. Upon completion he gave me a copy of all my results and recommendations for ordering. He was very knowledgeable, informative and seemed completely honest  with all his given information. I know there are not many Advanced Fitting Centers in Virginia but I strongly recommend Michael Ferguson @ Kinloch Golf Club for anyone who can get there.
