I have 33" Newport 2 putter. Sometimes while putting with it I feel it is a bit short. I am about 5' 8" and believe I am still growing since I'm only 14. Should I lengthen my putter to 34" or should I keep my 33" shaft?

  2. Gus:I am about the same height as you and have been correctly fitted for my Scotty. The fitting came back 34"/15 gram weights. The only problem with making your putter longer,is that the swingweight will go,up making the putter heavier. If you can get the putter re-shafted to 34" i would try it as there are lots of SC shafts available, only issue is that you might have to change your 20 gram weights to 15 grams.Good Luck Tony from Toronto Canada

I would keep the 33". I as the previous reply am about your height, and use a 34" presently, also I agree not to lengthen the shaft because it will alter the swing weight balance/ opt instead for a shaft replacement.

First, at say 5'8 under or over by 1/2" approx , 'Why?" do you feel your putter is short only sometimes? If it was all the time, I would examine your setup and routine to put and stroke, I have found that anythng longer than 34" will brush my clothing affecting play, so I don't play a 35" putter,

players our height- such as Rory use titleist 33" putter, Luke Donald same approx height uses a 33" at 5'9". It probably comes down to if you are more legs than upperbody.

If you aren't comfortable with your putter than you, can't be at ease with your game eh? Use a longer putter spare of someones for a few rounds and practice to see if there is a difference.

You can get used to anything- generally.

You should go check with a pro about a proper fitting if you are really concerned about it.  Or, just try some different lengths.

Your height isn't the only factor when selecting the proper length putter.  Stance and stroke play a role too, but I think most of it comes down to how comfortable you are with the putter length.

At the end of the day, you should roll whatever makes the most putts.

I use a 33 putter. It just feels better and I get a smooth stroke with it.
