The club divider in my Titleist Golf bag which I bought in 2017 has worn down but I never really gave it much thought. The other day I had the driver out to hit my shot and the sun hit the shaft in just the right angle when I noticed the shaft itself was worn as well. It appears it has rubbed long enough on the worn section of the bag divider that it rubbed right through the first layer of the graphite shaft. My question to Jason: How much is this weak point likely to affect the ability of the shaft to maintain it's proper performance ? Also - should I be concerned about the shaft breaking and actually being dangerous out on the course ? Perhaps Titleist can bring back the long sock style of head cover that protects the shaft from this type of wear while in the bag... Perhaps it is time I break down and have a hard look at the TS series !!!

    Hi Darius,

Those symptoms are more prevalent when a golf cart is used, especially on a consistent basis. The issue is simply that the clubs move more within the bag when on an electric or gas cart, especially the Driver because it's the longest and every turn, bump and hole will make all of the clubs dance up and down and sideways. Unless the driver and course cart paths are perfectly smooth, unstable driving and conditions will cause the friction needed between the shaft and the dividers to get your result.

Even when carrying in the old day, lol, I noticed the black ink print on my True Temper shafts would get worn off and that was from carrying. I soon learned the best way organize my clubs to minimize the noise and confusion that they'd make during a round.

To me, it's "war wounds" and "battle scars", in other words, part of the wear and tear process.... they'll never stay new looking forever.

    Hey Darius,
Having just replaced my bag for that reason (and also the new Canada bag came out), I have several shafts that the paint has come off the same way. I've never seen it wear down, and its mostly cosmetic.
Bit f the shaft wore down then.......yikes! Replace it buddy before the head goes flying!

Thanks... Yes - the shaft has definitely worn down through the first layer of graphite down to where I can now see a different colour of material. I have already sent a note to the chap that orders clubs at our course for us to get together and perhaps order a new TS2 :) As I told my wife - safety first !
