Been saying this for years. Lower-speed players will often see more speed and higher flight by using a non-tour ball. While you won't get the same greenside spin from a 2 piece ball, you might just add a few yards off the tee and hit your irons a little further too.

At 68 I have noticed my swing speed slow down a bit, and I've always liked a higher ball flight with my irons and played the ProV1X for several years. Got a set of combo T350/T200 irons last year and for some reason got better play with the ProV1 so went with that. About a month ago I picked up a sleeve of the new AVX and tried that for a comparison. Gained a bit of distance and it feels softer off the clubface. Considering going with that but I sill like the ProV1 around the greens. Still have 3 dozen ProV1's to play so need to do a little more research before making the change.

At 78 love the performance I get from the Prov1. Have never changed and it is a ball I can count on. T350 irons with AMT R300 shafts, and woods have Fujikura shafts. When you go for a fitting take the ball you ball with, so you fitting is complete. Better distance and accuracy than 90% guys my age.

I agree.. the ball you play for your swing speed is very important.. I like the pro V 1

My on course experience has been that the Pro V1x and the tour soft go about the same distance with the driver. The tour soft travels further on fairway shots. The Pro V1x has better green side spin. My driver swing speed is around 80 mph.

Need to get ahold of the prov 1 left dot. Found two on facebook marketplace. Bought them. Been using them for two years, I just lost one last month so I don’t plan on using my last one anytime soon. Hopefully Titleist will release them this upcoming year.

I know at 78 my speed is now under 90mph. Just changed to a regular shaft (soft tip) and was getting better results at my fitting. Was using my game ball, Prov1.

Went with the new GT2 and will continue using the Prov1 golf balls. Feels so right off the face of my clubs. Have played the 1X, AVX and left dash. Like the consistency of the Prov1.

** Will be taking all my other woods/metals back to my fitter this month and putting regular shafts in them. TSR1F and TSR1Hs. Awaiting on the shafts to come in.

Have made some addtions since this post and feel pretty comfortable with the adjustments to my game. With the change over to regular shafts in my woods/metals they are much easier to hit and control. Having played stiff since starting this game in 1985 it was an adjustment at first. Went to regular shafts in my irons about five years ago and loved them, but still could hit the metals with effort. My fitter was the reasons when he handed me what I needed. My new set-up is as follows: GT2D - 10.75*, GT2F 14.25*, TSR1F 17*, TSR1H 20*, GT4H 23*, (2023) T350 irons 6-48* wedge, Vokey 56.10S, 58.8M, SC Super Select Newport 2 Squareback Putter. Cart 14 Bag. They now have me hitting more consistently and on a good day, when my back is not a factor, I can shoot a respectable score with a few birdies. I can actually manage my game better.

Really looking forward trying out my new GTs and playing the links in Dublin in a few days and seeing a few of our members and some friends from past events. Lisa, who makes life a little easier for us at the events; my crazy buddy Big Chris from OH who is a hoot; Dale V who took my money at Pinehurst, but still consider him a friend; Don O, Chris from GA, who I have not met. Always look forward to meeting new friends and Ireland is a great place to do that over a good pint.

I am 72 and have been playing for over 50 Years. For 2025 I have added a Titleist GT2 13.5 degree mini-driver to my bag. Also am re-shafting my AP3 718 irons with regular AMT Red shafts from the Stiffer AMT Black shaft that were original. I putt almost exclusively with 1 of 6 Scotty Cameron Coronado putters I have. The one I use most is getting reblued with a Texas Gun metal bluing. They will re-paint with original colors. Essentially my bag will be full of adjusted clubs that will work for a "seasoned citizen".

I hope to drive from Minnesota cold to Ft. Worth warm for a week about March 1st to feel out the refurbished gear. If I am lucky, the weather will be warm enough in Kansas City, which is only half the distance. In the meantime I am hitting 6-7 foot putts at a dime in my living room. Ray Floyd said once that the six foot putt is "the Most important shot in golf".
