  • Hole in one

It was elevated green so I was unable to see it go in the hole. I thought I hit it well but, initially I thought it rolled off the green. I walked around the green looking for my ball until one of friend told me it was in the hole. :-) I was totally surprised…

  • Pured PW gets it done!

Ryder, a 10-year-old from Arizona, achieved a remarkable milestone this past Sunday, hitting his first hole-in-one. Using a pitching wedge, he delivered a pure shot from 84 yards that looked destined for the hole from the moment it left the club. The…

  • Sunrise 9

On a typically cool sunrise back 9 at Tilden Golf Course in Berkeley I climbed the hill to the 16th tee box. From the blue tees the 206 yard 16th plays more like 210-215 with wind and elevation across a valley and back up the hillside. I hit a 5 hybrid…

The most recent one on Saturday… On a Par 4… 396 yards (Playing downhill/downwind roughly 302…

  • First Hole-in-one

I was playing as a single in a foursome with a group of folks I did not know at my home course. The 6th hole is an uphill shot so you can only see about half of the flag stick. I hit a really good shot right at the pin. With the elevation change, I have…

  • RE: How good do you have to be to notice the differences in balls?

There will be two main considerations. One will be how the ball “feels” to you. You actually don’t feel the ball but the sound it makes on your clubs equates to the feel you have when hitting it. You already can sense that difference based on your comment…
