PGA TOUR:

It was an all-Titleist Pro V1 playoff at the Waste Management Phoenix Open where Webb Simpson topped Tony Finau (Pro V1) with a birdie on the first extra hole.

Trailing by two shots with two to go, Simpson birdied the final two holes of regulation to force the playoff. He closed with a 2-under 69 to match Finau at 17-under 267 in regulation. It marked the sixth career PGA TOUR title for Simpson – all while playing a Titleist golf ball and equipment from tee-to-green — and his first since THE PLAYERS Championship in 2018.

SIMPSON TOPS A TITLEIST LEADERBOARD:

Simpson topped a leaderboard on which 14 of the 15 players who finished among the top 10 and ties relied upon a Pro V1 or Pro V1x for their success.

Three players – Justin Thomas (Pro V1x), Bubba Watson (Pro V1x Yellow) and Nate Lashley (Pro V1x) – tied for 3rd place, three shots out of the playoff. Thomas fired Sunday’s best round with a 7-under par 65, racing 18 spots up the leaderboard. Watson closed with a 6-under par 66.

3 FOR 2020:

Simpson becomes the third Titleist full product line player to win on the PGA TOUR since the calendar turned to 2020. The new year began with Justin Thomas and Cam Smith going back-to-back in Hawaii with a combined two Titleist golf balls and 28 Titleist golf clubs. If you include Tyler Duncan’s win at the RSM Classic, the last event of the Fall schedule, Titleist Brand Ambassadors have won four of the last six tournaments.

A CLEAN SWEEP AT THE WASTE MANAGEMENT:

After sweeping every major equipment count at 13 different PGA TOUR events in 2019, Titleist accomplished the feat again at the Waste Management Phoenix Open for the first time in 2020. From golf balls, to drivers, fairways and hybrids, to utilities, iron sets, wedges and putters – Titleist was the top choice of more players across every category.

KORN FERRY:

Titleist Brand Ambassador Davis Riley captured his first career Korn Ferry Tour title with a one-shot win over Roberto Diaz (Pro V1) at the Panama Championship. Riley posted a 10-under 270 victory total. Díaz carded a Sunday-best 5-under 65 to finish solo second.

PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS:

Titleist Brand Ambassador Brett Quigley captured the Morocco Champions in just his second PGA TOUR Champions start, saving par on the final two holes to win by a stroke. The win marked Quigley’s first PGA TOUR-sanctioned victory since the 2001 Arkansas Classic on the Korn Ferry Tour.

Quigley, who started the final round three shots behind the overnight leader, fired his second straight 6-under 66 to finish with a 15-under 201 victory total. He topped a leaderboard on which all seven of the players who finished among the top 5 and ties trusted Titleist golf balls for their success. Titleist was the overwhelming leader in the golf ball category with 94 Pro V1 or Pro V1x models in play among the field of 132 (71%) — that is more than seven times the nearest competitor with 13 (10%).

Quigley qualified for the PGA TOUR Champions first African event as one of the top 10 available players from the PGA TOUR's career money list. Quigley registered five runner-up finishes in 408 starts on the PGA TOUR, earning more than $11 million.

QUOTING QUIGLEY:

"It's been so long since I won a tournament. It’s just incredible. It's weird, I had a peace all week. I wouldn't say I was nervous until the last hole on my second putt … I think it helped not having been playing too much the last few years. I had a lot of years off. I had a leg problem. I had three fractured vertebrae … I've been home for almost seven years I think I have a different perspective."

SOUTH AFRICA:

JC Ritchie, who started the final round two shots behind the overnight leader, successfully defended his Limpopo Championship title, claiming a two shot victory over fellow Titleist Pro V1 player Wilco Nienaber. Ritchie was bogey-free on the weekend, closing with a 5-under 67 en route to a 19-under par 269 victory total.

Titleist was the most relied upon golf ball in the field of 204 with 170 (83%) players, more than seven times the nearest competitor (23). The event was co-sanctioned with the European Challenge Tour for the first time this season.
