Titleist is the Top Choice at the NCAA Men's and Women's Championships

The NCAA Men’s and Women’s Championships have concluded at Greyhawk GC, and across both events, Titleist was the top choice for the nation’s best collegiate golfers during the most important on-course test of the year.

As amateurs, the competitors in the field have the option to play any golf ball they choose when it matters most, yet the country’s best and brightest rely upon the advanced technology and superior performance of the Pro V1 and Pro V1x for their success. Throughout Regionals and the National Championship, 92% (265 of 288) of competitors were Titleist golf ball players — 24 times the nearest competitor with 11 (4%).

Let’s take a closer look at how some of the world’s best amateurs trusted Titleist on their quest for a national title:

Men’s Regionals

Titleist swept every major equipment category at the NCAA Men’s Regional championships, with more players across the six regional sites combined putting their trust in Titleist golf ballsdriversfairway metalshybridsutility ironsironswedges and putters than any other brand:

  • 86% (385) of the 450 players competing in NCAA Regionals played a Titleist golf ball – including 97% of the field at the NCAA Men’s South Central Regional – 11 times the nearest competitor (35).
  • Titleist was the most played driver with 189 players (42%), compared to 110 (24%) for the nearest competitor.
  • More players also chose Titleist fairways (207/43%) and hybrids (41/45%).
  • There were more than two times as many Titleist iron sets (196/44%) in play than any other brand, while players gamed a total of 163 Titleist utilities (62%), more than four times the nearest competitor (35).
  • The most popular putter brand among teams at the NCAA Men’s Regionals? Scotty Cameron(122/27%). 

Men’s Championship

Titleist was the overwhelming choice of college golf’s best players this week at the NCAA Championship. 

  • Ninety percent of players (140 of 156) tee'd up a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball at Grayhawk GC, more than 15 times the nearest competitor with nine.
  • Titleist was also the most played driverfairwayhybridutility ironironand wedge during the week in Scottsdale, Ariz:
  • Titleist was the most trusted driver with 67 players (43%), compared to 44 (28%) for the nearest competitor. TSi3 was the overwhelming field favorite with 53 players.
  • More players also chose Titleist fairways (70/44%) and hybrids (13/52%).
  • There were more than two times as many Titleist irons (75/48%) in play than any other brand, with more of college golf’s best gaming T100 irons than any other model. A total of 63 Titleist utilities (58%) were in play, more than three times the nearest competitor (18).
  • 58% (269) of the gap, sand and lob wedges in play were Vokey Design wedges, more than three times the nearest competitor (80/17%) – with more NEW SM9's in play than any other model.

Women’s Championship

Titleist was the overwhelmingly most played golf ball at the NCAA Women’s Championship, with 95 percent of the field playing a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball.

  • Of the 132 players competing in Scottsdale, Ariz., 125 tee'd up a Titleist.
  • In addition to golf balls, Titleist was also the most played utility iron (4/36%), wedge (176/44%) and putter (36/27%) at Grayhawk GC.
  • Ninety-eight percent (39) of the 40 players making up the eight teams that qualified for the match-play bracket played a Titleist golf ball, including four players on the title-winning team. 
  • The NCAA Women’s champions also gamed the following Titleist equipment:
