Wyndham Clark Games Pro V1x While Tying the Course Record to Win THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson

PGA TOUR | THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson

Completely dialed in with his Pro V1x golf ball, Wyndham Clark posted an 11-under 60 Sunday at TPC Craig Ranch, tying the course record on his way to a three-shot victory.

  • Clark’s bogey-free final round featured an eagle and nine birdies, including a back-nine 28 punctuated with a final approach on 18 to 2 feet, 7 inches.
  • He tapped that in for his fourth birdie over his final five holes.
  • Clark gained +7.636 strokes from tee to green, including +4.543 on approach shots (with 79% Greens in Regulation).
  • He also went a perfect 5-for-5 on Sand Saves.
  • Over his rounds of 66-63-65-60, Clark totaled 28 birdies (T2) and two eagles — with only two bogeys the entire week.
  • Clark, who also shot 60 with his Pro V1x to win the weather-shortened 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, was one of 112 players (76%) this week in Texas who teed up a Pro V1 or Pro V1x model, seven times the nearest competitor with 16 (11%).
  • Seven of the top eight finishers, and 11 of the top 13, at TPC Craig Ranch, played a Titleist golf ball.

WYNDHAM CLARK ON HIS PRO V1x GOLF BALL

  • “Honestly, one of the most important things in a player’s bag is the golf ball. If you don’t have control of that, then it doesn’t matter how you’re swinging, how the clubs are made, whatever. The golf ball is so important, and that’s ultimately what goes into the hole. Having faith and trusting your golf ball is huge.”
  • “I play [Pro V1x] because it’s kind of the perfect combination for me of launch and spin. … I'm a low spin player, I have a lot of speed, but I don't spin the ball very much. And the Pro V1x, especially with my irons and driver, spins at the numbers that I want. Also, I think it's great around the greens. So I’ve always been looking for spin. And this Pro V1x gives me exactly what I need.”
  • “The spin means the most to me, because I’m a low spin player, so I need the spin to help keep the ball in the air, to be able to control it better around the greens. And that's the most important thing for me. And especially out on Tour, you need to be able to have the ball to stop very quick, and that's what this ball does.”
  • “What’s unique in our game is you can get the ball and your equipment dialed into the exact thing that you need. And with Titleist having different [models], I was able to find one that with my irons, spun perfectly, and with my driver, spun perfectly. And around the greens, I was able to stop it quick and do everything I wanted with it.”

  • The 2023 U.S. Open champion was locked in with his approach play, as he gained +4.543 shots on the field (11th) while hitting 79% greens in regulation (T7).
  • On Sunday, he flagged his Pro V1x throughout the day, hitting 17 GIR and knocking several approaches tight:
    • No. 4: 185 yards to 5 feet, 6 inches | Birdie
    • No. 11: 158 yards to 6 feet, 6 inches | Birdie
    • No. 12: 244 yards to 15 feet, 5 inches | Eagle
    • No. 17: 125 yards to 12 feet, 2 inches | Birdie
    • No. 18: 171 yards to 2 feet, 7 inches | Birdie
  • Around the greens, he ranked T2 in Scrambling, getting up-and-down to save par on 13 of 15 attempts (87%). He was also a perfect five-for-five in Sand Saves.

  • Redman recorded 27 birdies (2nd) on his way to four rounds of 66 or lower (64-64-66-65).
