The Winning Setup: Cameron Smith at the Australian PGA Championship

Another week, another win with the New 2019 Titleist Pro V1x golf ball and TS metals, as Cameron Smith successfully defended his Australian PGA Championship crown. Just two weeks ago, Charles Howell III won the PGA TOUR’s RSM Classic with the New 2019 Pro V1 golf ball, new TS3 driver and a pair of TS2 fairway metals.

Last year on the Gold Coast, Smith won in a playoff at the Australian PGA. This time round he left nothing to chance, posting 16-under-par for a two shot victory at Royal Pines Resort, which included three back nine birdies. He becomes the first back-to-back winner of the event since 2000-01.

Co-sanctioned with the Australasian Tour, the win is Smith’s second in just 20 European Tour events. He also has a PGA Tour title to his credit, having partnered with Jonas Blixt to win the 2017 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Smith, who put the New 2019 Pro V1x golf ball in play for the first time at the Australian Open two weeks ago, becomes the fourth player to win across the worldwide professional tours with the New 2019 Pro V1 or Pro V1x since they were introduced less than two months ago, and he is the first player to win with it on the European Tour.

"I’ll always put it straight in," Smith said regarding new generation Titleist golf balls. "I trust what they’re doing with it. After a couple of tournaments I’m always comfortable in knowing what it will do. I’ve been playing the Pro V1x since I was about 15 years old and never changed. I love how it spins around the greens.”

Smith put the new TS2 driver into play the first week it was available at the U.S. Open in June. He becomes the 18th player across the worldwide professional tours and the second on the European Tour to win with a new TS2 or TS3 driver.

"The TS2 spins a little less, but launches at the same angle as my previous driver," Smith said. "The apex of the flight is a little lower, but I'm carrying it farther and getting more run.”

Smith also had a TS2 fairway metal (15.0) in the bag for his win, which he had customized to a slightly shorter length for greater accuracy.

Let's take a closer look at all the Titleist equipment that Cameron relied on to win down under.
