Wife talked me in to playing

I was on the last day of a pre-turning 50 vacation at the Greenbrier, and due to a previous day's right hand injury while playing the Old White TPC, pressing business concerns of my wife's, and imminent threat of rain I was considering canceling my tee time on the Greenbrier course. When I announced this to my wife (at 6 AM when I woke her while dressing), she told me that her business plans could wait, and that I should go and play if I could. So I tested my hand, looked at the sky, and headed out on the Greenbrier course, paired with a father/son from Chicago.
I arrived at the 11th hole, which was playing 141 yds from the blue tees to a front left pin. A large tree guards the left edge of the green, and had been part of a huge number I put up the first day I played, when I pulled my tee shot, and landed in the bunker that runs across the front of the green. So I teed from the right side, and given that I hit my 8 iron a solid 145 yds, considered choking the club a little. But looking at the hole I could see a slope in the green behind the hole, and decided to just hit it full, hoping the slope would bring it close. The shot felt as flush as any I have hit, and landed exactly where I had aimed, but appeared to just sit at the top of the slope. Just as I was thinking that it wasn't coming back down the hill, it started rolling, and disappeared!
The two gentlemen with me looked at me wide-eyed, screamed, and ran over, both hugging me(the father later admitting to my wife that it was the first time he had ever hugged a man on a golf course). Being the pessimist I am, I was not convinced until I walked up on the green, and found that smiling #3 ProV1 at the bottom of the hole. I proudly repaired my pitch mark at the top of the slope, then had to sit down for a minute.
Needless to say, I thanked my wife profusely for talking me into playing on the day of my greatest shot ever-- my first ace!
