They were overrated!

My dad, wife and nephew all have them! So my favorite phrase was "A hole in one is overrated!", while bitting my lip...

Well I'm here to tell you they are not!

Background-This was the 10th year of the La Contenta Invitational. It started 10 years earlier as a simple birthday round of golf and is now a three day 72 hole event. It's just a group of friends who enjoy the game of golf while having a good time. This year we thought it would be cool to rock the kilts because 4 of the 8 founding members are Irish. I'm not Irish so I wore a Scottish kilt!

The shot- I just chipped in for birdie on the 12th hole and was feeling a bit cheeky. I hunted for a new ball, which I always do on par 3's because I never wanted to have a beat up ball on the mantle. Sounds silly but its what I do. I then took my time getting to the tee and as I approached I told them to go ahead step in front of a birdie the golf Gods love it! They swiftly backed away from the tee box, grumbled and made a wide berth. I hunted for a good part of the box and planted my tee! What happened next will be forever etched on the perpetual trophy. I launched the ball from 165 yards away with a pitching wedge and yelled out "Suck on that!", because I struck it well. The ball landed 4 feet past and spun back into the hole! For the next 2 minutes we danced around the tee box like a group of school kids. After that is still kind of fuzzy but I will never forget that shot for as long as I live!
