Once in a Blue Moon

It was August 31,2012 the day the second full moon of the month would appear, otherwise known as a "Blue Moon". I was playing with the regular Friday afternoon group and was luckly to be paired with 3 good golfers and more importatnt, 3 guys who enjoyed the game of golf. We were ahead of the other three teams by 4-5 strokes when we came upon the dreaded #16. The hardest hole on the course. A tough par 4 that eats everyones lunch. Today would be no exception. We came into the 16th, 1 over par on the day and left 6 over. Counting three balls for a foursome vs 3 fivesomes is not an easy feat. Feeling we lost a 3-4 stroke lead on the field, we came to the par 3 17th. It was playing 172 yds into the wind. After everyone had hit, it was mt turn and I hit a 6 iron because of the wind. I approached the ball, then stepped back and stood behind it getting as line on the pin, annoucing I've seen guys do this on TV. The shot was on the stick from the time it left the club face until it hit the green, about a foot in front of the pin. It appeared to go in but I've had shots appear to go in before only to find them off the back of the green. After going from side to side to see if we could see the ball, Skip took his range finder and said I don't see the ball but there is a divot right in front of the stick. After searching the area behind the green I walked up and found my Titleist 3 sitting there in the cup. After 30 plus years of playing golf I finally got my ace.
