I've been playing golf for 36 years now. I was at one time a seven day a week player but never had a hole in one. The story goes that I had played a horrible nine holes of golf just the day before and played so bad I really didn't care if I ever played the game again. However, the next night was league night and I am the captain of the team so I figured I should show up and see if I could turn it around. We started the round on a par three and I hit the green and made my par, so I thought ok that's a good start. So, I then proceeded to bogey the next two holes even though I did strike the ball ok. I got to the third hole, a par three playing 145 yards and was last to hit off the tee. I swung a Titleist AP1 7 iron with a soft fade that headed right to the pin. The light was such that I nor my playing partners could tell where the ball ended up. Well we all got to the green and low and behold my ball had hit about 1 foot in front of the pin and had gone in the cup. After the round it only cost me $45.00 worth of beer to celebrate my first hole in one with my buddies from the course. Well worth the wait but I'm ready for number two!!!
