May 14th 2011 My First Hole in One
By Eugene B On 6 January 2012
I turned 61 on May 3rd and was finishing up rehabing my total right knee replacement on May 14th. I had a break in between total knee replacements, my next total knee replacement was scheduled for May 16th on my left knee. I decided to go to my favorite short course, Twin Brook Golf Course in Tinton Falls, N.J. I met my friend Vinny Schreiber, who is the starter at Twin Brook, outside the practice range. I warmed up and I was not sure if I would be able to hit the same club as I usually did, so I chose to club up 1 club to the 6 iron on the 150 yard 1st hole. 2 other golfers were waiting for the rest of their foursome to tee off after me. Vinny was waiting in his golf cart. I went through my normal routine. Even with the right knee replacement January 25th, I was able to turn OK and I hit the ball pretty good. The ball flew with a slight draw to the green, bounced twice and rolled into the hole. I couldn't believe the ball went into the hole, stared at the green and said, "I think the ball went into the hole!" Vinny raced to the green to verify the ball went in and the 2 golfers said they thought it went in and congratulated me. This was my 1st hole in 1 ever.
