First Ace

I had been playing very poorly over the last few months and struggling to get my mid handicap form back. I entered the tournament expecting to play quite the same as I have been since I was lacking confidence and not quite sure I could improve on the course I was playing.
I just just finished 10 with a double bogey and played the front nine with the same difficulty as I have been.
As I stood over the ball all I could think was make good contact and "hope for the best". Well, I caught the shot thin and begged for the ball to carry the hazard in front. I saw the ball clear the hazard, but with the haze in the air, I could not see it land and come to rest.
when I approached the green from the cart I could not see the ball so I grabbed one from my bag thinking the ball ran through the green and into the hazard behind the green. As I walked to the back of the green I did not see the ball on the down slope to the hazard, so I figured I would take a look in the hole.
As I walked up to the hole and looked in I could just see the front of the cup. When I was able to see the full hole there was the ball, in the back of the cup. I just stood there in complete shock. I yelled over to my playing partners and they ran over to the hole. I could only say a few words over and over until it finally hit me.
It is obviously one of those moments in not only golf, but in life that are surreal. I am still grinning about it and just light up when I get to tell my friends about it. This may be the boost I need to get my confidence back and play like the way I know I could, but if nothing else it is a great story to tell.
