Cooperstown Dream
By Dean C On 12 June 2012
I was in Cooperstown for my son Dominic's baseball tournament. Dom's team made it to the final 8 and didn't have to play again that day until 8pm. They lost that night but finished #5 out of 104 teams, far better than we expected. So like any golf fanatic, I grabbed another parent and headed out for Oneonta Country Club to play golf. Darryl Sargent and I played the front 9 and he was up by 1 stroke. This was not suppose to happen, me being the Ace. I threw down a dog and headed to the 10th tee. 130yd par 3, very scenic hole starring into a mountain side and dropping straight down. I took out a pw and took a soft swing, hoping to have the correct distance. I watched the ball sail into the mountains and drop to the back of the green and stop. It then backed up 15ft into the hole. I shouted Hole in One! The entire course could hear my voice echo off the mountains. I gave Darryl a high five and headed down to retrieve my prize. I ended up beating Darryl by one stroke with an 87. Not my best but who cares when you make your first and only hole in one.
