I am with a local golf association in southeastern Virginia. Every year we take a long golf weekend(Thursday-Sunday). The last several years we have been going to the Pinehurst area, reasonable drive time and cost. The group has been growing every year and this year there was 36 of us.
So Friday (the first offical day) we played the Legacy Golf course with there new greens. The pro told us before we teed of that the greens were a bit firm and not holding well so he recommended we land before and roll it up. The first few holes and we felt like he gave us great advise. Even though the greens were firm, they were rolling true. So we got to the first par 3, playing about 110 yards slightly down hill. The other three palyers had already hit. So I took my 100 yard club, had good contact. It landed before the green, one bounce and on the green. Here is the best part. We all watched as it rolled right to left and slowely dropped into the cup. What a moment, it was like in slow motion and we all got to see it. There was so much hootin and hollering I thik the whole course heard us.
I was in shock, I could believe it, my first hole in one after nearly 35 years golfing. As we played on, one of the guys in the foursome ask where I put the ball I made it with, I told him I was still using it. As each of them gave me their opinions of what I should do with the ball, I decided to listen to them and put it on my bad. I took my marker wrote the hole #, date and had the 3 other guys sign it.
Truely awsom when that happens with your friends.
