After playing the back nine first of a local course, me and my buddy made the turn to the front nine. #1 is a 254 yard par 4 dog-leg right. The hole is cut on a side hill, and then it drains down toward the green with water on the back of the green. I hit a pure 5-iron probably 5 or 10 yards right of where I intended to aim (so ultimately it was God's generosity not my skill :). My shot cut the corner over some pine trees and we saw the ball bounce toward the green. When we got up there, my ball was no where to be found. I assumed that it rolled across the green and into the water. I didn't even check the hole (I'll never do that again). So i dropped and chipped on close, figuring I'd just get a par and as my buddy putt out, he asked, "did you hit another ball?" So he pulled out my original shot and I was privileged to experience my first hole in one after 14 or 15 years of golfing. The picture doesn't show, but it is a PRO V1x :)
