A true miracle of golf with my dad

I am 36 years old and have been an avid golfer since I was 16 years old. My handicap is roughly a 4. I must admit that I have played other balls for about the last 10 years. My father, who was the most influential person in my life in regards to golf, always bought me a case of those golf balls (10 dozen) for my birthday each year with my company logo on the ball. He also ordered himself a case of his ball of choice, being the Titleist ProV1 with his company logo at the same time.

Unfortunately and very unexpetadly, my father passed away in August of 2010. In my last conversation with my dad, as he lay on his death bed, I asked my Dad to please give me a sign to let me know that he was alright. I brought the rest of my father's ProV1 balls home with me after the funeral. I started to just save all of them, but then I knew that my dad would want me to use them and remember him in the rounds that I played with his golf balls and his logo.

In July of 2011 I had a pretty standard golf match with my normal group, and as I was getting ready to leave the house I noticed that I was down to only 1 dozen of his Titleist balls remaining, so I almost didn't grab any of them, but I thought I would use one more sleeve and save the remainder of them as a memory. We got to the first tee and I just couldn't bring myself to open the sleeve of his balls, rather I used some of my own balls on the first 4 holes. When we came to the 190 yard, par 3, 5th, I decided what the heck, and pulled one of his Titleist ProV1 balls from the sleeve and looked at the my Dad's logo as I teed it into the ground.

I lined up for my shot with a 5 Iron, I made a swing that felt very good, and as the ball traveled to the uphill green, it was on a perfect line with the pin. It was late in the day and the hole plays due west directly into the sun, so we didn't actually see it fall in the hole, but we all new it was a pretty good shot. We were playing our normal "Wolf" game, and one of my buddies "Dustin Mahoney", said "I am taking that one, it has to be pretty close".

All three of the others in our group also hit the green, and it wasn't until we drove up to the green and saw that there were only 3 balls on the green, that one of us had most likely hit it in the hole. Chad Kisling, my best friend and my cart partner for the day, told me as we got closer that he thought it was me. Being the only one of my good golfing buddies who had never hit a hole in one, I wasn't real sure it was me, as I was convinced that I was never going to achieve this feat. However, I walked to the green, looked into the hole, and there was my Dad's logo facing me, printed on the Titleist ProV1.

Several things happened at that very moment for me, first being that I was finally in the ever so elusive hole in one club, second being that I am now a Titleist ProV1 ball player, and third, I truly believe that my Dad was there to play one more round of golf with me on that very special day and I got my "sign".
