    The pgatour web site has a great article talking about the Titleist products of 2014. Worth checking out.

    One question at the end of the article that had me wondering - Is the SM5 Cast or Forged?

    Interestingly enough, I checked a few reviews on the SM5 and interestingly enough, some of them said the SM5 was Cast, but a few noted they were Forged. As such - I am still confused :)

    Perhaps our TT staff can clear up the question ?

    Hi Darius,
    Great question.
    Vokey wedges are 'CAST'.

    There are a few reasons for this...
    First, it allows us more precision and versatility when building wedges given the number of grinds that we offer.  Since wedges are precise scoring clubs, it is vital that the grinds are equally precise.

    Second, based on our testing, the overwhelming majority of players cannot tell the difference between cast and forged wedges.  Even tour players we have tested cannot consistently decipher between the two.  And trust me, if there was even a subtle performance or feel variation, they would be able to detect it VERY quickly.

    This question gets asked fairly often so Bob Vokey and his team have tested this many times throughout the years.  Given the above reasons, we have just not seen any data or feedback that would warrant the worldwide release of forged Vokey wedges.

    This should help clear up any confusion.  Of course, if you have any other questions please don't hesitate to post them!

    Mitch made a great point with many guys not being able to feel the difference. The difference between a well done "cast" head and a "forged" head in my opinion has always been neglible. I haven't noticed a huge difference in feel from one to the other including some higher end forgings.
