So i just got back from a fitting for the TSI Driver and fairways wood - firstly thanks Luke at Team Titleist for offering the opportunity to get fit on the first day on general release and also thanks to Dan Fiend - the fitter at St Ives. He has fit me for irons before but he is just great guy and amazing fitter, cant recommend enough after being fit for lots of clubs.

Background: I am an 8 hcp with a 110mph driver swing speed. I am a real equipment tinker especially with shafts :-)) My current gamers are a TS3 9.5 degree - set A1, 45 inches longer with a Fujikura Ventus Velocore blue 6X

I got fit into the TSi3 as i am a high launch, high spin player. The TSi3 looks amazing at address - i loved the new face design and when looking down it made the club look like it had more loft and give great alignment. I would say it launches a little higher than TS3 but is also a lot more stable on of centre hits. The sound of TSi3 was slightly different which i preferred - a bit more muted, but still the titanium noise which i love (never quite got the love of the carbon sound)

The MASSIVE gain in TSi3 was the reduced spin - 400 to 500 RPM. This was great as previously i have had to use very boardie heavy shafts to reduce spin, but with TSi3 i was able to use some shafts that felt alot better.

The stock shafts are great but also the 'premium' shaft from graphite design. Always loved the AD-DI.

In the fairway wood (3 wood for me) I think the face again stands out for the design. It make the club so much more easier to align. Overall the club looked amazing (both TSi2 and TSi3) and again saw a gain in ball speed and launch (coming from the 917)

Overall I think i gained 13yrd on the driver (still 45 inch shaft) due to increased ball speed, being able to go down in loft and the reduce spin. I was not expecting that going as the gains are so small these days with the quality of drivers.

I was so impressed with the new drivers - i really think they have knocked it out of the park.

Thanks again Titleist - now time to save up!

  2. I have a fitting scheduled for Oct. 29th and I can't wait to see how they perform.

    Brazeley, QQ if I may...
I have a 4 month old TS3 Driver that I was fitted for in February 2020 but then didn't receive until Mid-June. I paid full price so feel a bit a ggreived that Titleist have brought out a new driver, albeit I should have known.

So my question is did you look in to whether or not Titleist do a trade in for the TS3. If not, where is the nest place to sell privately?

    Regards,
    Iain

Titleist are on a two year club cycle, a little bit of research would’ve shown this. The drivers/fairways would’ve been launched in August albeit for COVID.

    Hi Brazeley

Thanks for your feedback, sounds like you had a good session. Dan's fit me a couple of times in the past and I think he's a class act.

Looking forward to mine in a week or so.

    Hi Brazeley,

Thanks for the review which I didn't see (oops) before I had my fitting yesterday, and I was also really impressed with the TSi drivers.

From the released photo's I was unsure of the new alignment graphics but I can honestly say I didn't notice it during the fitting. Personal preference on looks and sound was the 3, but thank goodness for Trackman as the TSi2 numbers were so much better.

Currently gaming the 917D2 at D2 and 8g draw weight with Evenflow blue 65 and hitting this high and straight. I was fitted for TS2/3 at St Ives 2 years ago and the gains were marginal.

The first ball with the TSi2 was my best shot straight and longer than the 917 and the length and dispersion vs 917 were consistently better. We tried different shafts, shaft lengths and final weight and settled on the KuroKage Black 50 although it didn't beat the first shot it was best overall for distance dispersion and spin.

I'm happy with my TS fairways so I didn't try them (D'oh) but if they're anything like the driver they will be a step forward from the 91x models.

Titleist Thursdays are back and I urge you all to get out and try them as they not only look great but perform even better.

If only Titleist did trade ins...

  12. Ant,
You're an old hand at this... You knew that if you waggled the fairways, it would only be a matter of time before you ended up with TSi's right across your woods section!!
As it is, you may only have deferred the inevitable until the next Titleist Thursday event.
That said, I have to admire your resolve - I know I'm unable to resist Titleist temptation.

Lucky to have still gone ahead with my fitting at Sand Martins GC with Chris Courtneidge from Titleist on Wednesday. I've been very happy with my TS3 but heard so many great things about the new drivers so I thought I'd check them out for myself.

Chris has fit me for everything in my bag now so knows my game quite well and was very confident that I'd see an improvement. Started with the TSi2 which was OK and sounded great off the face but I wasn't that keen on the shape of the head and even though there was a slight improvement, we weren't getting the gains I was hoping for.

Next up was the TSi3 and immediately I felt more comfortable with it, the head shape is the more traditional looking shape that I've come to expect from Titleist and I felt like the ball was exploding off the face. Tried a couple of different shafts and moved the weights around and my best results came with a 9* head, Project X TSi HZRDUS RDX 60, B2 setting and was really pleased with the gains in club and ball speed and total distance of a shade under 280 yards now, which is an 11 yards gain. Much better dispersion and allowed me to really attack the ball, felt vey confident.

To be fair I think Chris knew that this would be the best set up to start with but I like the way he lets you try other combinations until you both come to the same conclusion. Can't speak highly enough about Chris, if you're in his area (south of England) I highly recommend you seeing him.

Only problem is the club is obviously shut now and I can't get an order in until we re-open, hopefully in December.

Great review Martin - from the feedback it seems to be TSi3 is the one which is standing out over the previous model. You getting fit at Sand Martins brought back some memory's as used to play there a number of years ago - some really interesting holes on the back nine.

Thanks Pal, been a member for 3 years and for a relatively new club (25 years old) it's in great condition and I can also almost walk there!! Agree about some of the holes on the back 9.

    Yep the TSi3 is amazing!
