Whilst I hope no-one has suffered the same fate, would anyone have any experience of how long it may be before I can start playing again after an achilles rupture? Only 2 weeks in and I'm already going mad!

  2. Basing on rugby injuries let a physio monitor your progress people I have known do this wether they let it heal naturally or you have had a operation if you play within 6 months it would be a bonus hope im wrong keep us updated with progress as it’s better to keep working as it will be small improvements

    I couldn’t even hazard a guess buddy.
    I feel your pain!!
All I will say is don’t rush back before the injury I’d fully recovered.
I did it with my dislocated shoulder and I regret it now, I still get pain and problems with it two years later.

That's got to be frustrating as well as painful...

When I was laid up for 3 months after knee surgery I just practiced my putting....

Just make sure you take medical advice on recovery.

  5. Ian I feel your pain
Just had an op myself and told not to play for a 6 week period
Don’t rush back as you could be out for longer,I’ve seen this happen with mates that rushed back
Be great to see you post yourself playing in the summer on here
    Wishing you quick recovery mate
  6. Ian,
I suppose it also depends upon which leg, as the forces & strains will differ depending if it's your front leg or the back...
I had a total knee replacement (right knee) and being right handed, it was far better than replacing the left knee.
I was out for 5 months but some people on US websites reckoned they were back playing in 3 weeks...
Frankly, I'm sceptical about such claims. You might find articles about such "miracles" re: achillies injuries... be cautious.
You are the best judge of when you might be close to a return.
Oh, and set aside some cash for a bit of coaching - you may find your well-grooved swing has gone rusty!!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Winter time so perfect for some rest and maybe a trip to the driving range to ease in and not over do it.....ive broke my left arm twice and had to ease back in.......frustrating as hell but you just need to give yourself plenty time.
