So last night I got to play 9 holes with the new AVX ball. I switched from Pro VX to Pro V after their trajectory changes last year as the lower I can hit it the better as my swing speed is high and generate a lot of spin.

So 3 times I hit my T-MB 2 iron ober 300 yds off the tee along with a 5 iron going 250 down our 4th hole. So distance is impressive although ground conditions are hard I would say they are longer off the tee.

As for the short game, the spin generated on knock down shots was 2 hops and stop so I was impressed by that along with the check I could generate chipping around the green.

Putting, the ball felt a little harder than the Pro V but quickly got the pace of them (also been out of the country for 2 weeks and the conditions have changed massively).

So overall I would say I’m impressed with this ball and will game it again Friday in a knockout before deciding whether to use it in my club championship on Sunday. I will update thread after the weekend with further thoughts.

Good info Simon, I have a dozen to try. I dream of the day I can firstly hit a knock down shot and secondly get 2 hops and some check :)

    Monifieth,

Still have a couple of boxes of Pro V1's to get through but once I do, will definitely give these a try. My home course is Carnoustie, so often windy. Closed at the moment for obvious reasons so playing elsewhere for the next few weeks!

I know I don't really have the swing to game these balls but I just need to scratch that itch!

    Thanks for feedback Simon.

I bought some of these as a prize for my works golf society and ended up winning them so looking forward to giving them a try. Ideally I'll use them on the local pro's GC2 to see how the stats compare on there to the Pro V's before taking them on the course.

With the fairways being so firm it's a bit of a lottery to judge driving distance difference on the course at the moment. Be interested to see how the flight differs and check/spin around the greens.

I gamed the AVX for the first time yesterday at The Lambourne Gc. I used a ProV1 for the front 9 and switched to the AVX for the back.

There was a stiff breeze into and following so I got to experience the difference.

As someone who gets a lot of spin off driver I can only say I'm sold on this ball. The driver trajectory and control on short shots was equally impressive. It feels good off the putter too...

I’m converted now, the AVX is great all round and soft off the putter. The finish is good as well, so after 72 holes with 1 ball its still as good as new. So picked up a dozen in yellow today and will game them on Sunday.

The AVX is awesome I had my first round with 1 yesterday and tied my best score round my home course. I love the soft feel and because I hit the ball quite high it gave me some more control and more distance. I can’t fault the ball at all, it lasted a whole round with barely a nick

Finally managed to try these balls out today on a course new to me. My normal drive is 240ish carry with total 253-5 using ProV1x. Avx carry was 260-264 with a 282 total distance but these numbers need more quantifying. I didn't see any difference in iron/ wedge shots into the greens so for the added distance I would happily tried these balls for a season.

I'm in mourning as lost first two AVX... What I can confirm is that they don't float.....
