I’m heading to Scottsdale for the first time in mid March to escape the cold. Currently trying to get on the TPC Stadium course, Troon North, and Grayhawk. Just looking for some other course recommendations..preferably some that don’t break the bank after playing the others. Thanks DD

  2. The Boulders is an outstanding track. If you are a Troon member, you will get a discounted rate.

Give Quintero a serious look, no homes, great views and an amazing course!

Thanks for those suggestions. Quintero looks great, but it’s a ways away from where I’m staying. Currently have tee times at Troon pinnacle, We Ko Pa (both), and TPC stadium...pumped.

Drew, I was just there for the WM Open. We played Raven Golf Club Phoenix, Both Troon courses, Dinosaur Mountain at Gold Canyon (45 min east), and Papago. The Troon courses were immaculate.....We tried gettin on at WeKoPa, but couldn't get tee times.

That’s awesome, I took a long look at Dinosaur Mountain..looked really scenic. I’m pretty pumped about Troon though. Every review says those are the courses to play out there. Also, any food recommendations?

I've got some friends who go out to Scottsdale every March. They suggested Dinosaur, so I took them up on it. The scenery was amazing (especially coming from the flatlands of Oklahoma). The Troon courses were the most immaculate, and Dinosaur had the best views.

Are you staying in Scottsdale? We had dinner at Oregeno's Bistro in North Scottsdale, and it was good.

Phx guy here. Those are all great courses. Both Grayhawk courses are excellent as well. Quintero is worth the drive and is much more scenic than the TPC course. Don’t worry about the weather last week was a freak occurrence.
  9. Feel bad for the people visiting there this weekend, snowed two inches today and several courses closed.. Next weekend, 75 and sunny. Whacky.

Last year I played Estancia, Quintero, Troon North (Pinnacle), Grayhawk (Raptor), TPC (both), We-Ko-Pa (both), and ASU Karsten. If I could only play one course out there again the rest of my life it would be Quintero. Get a rental car and go play Quintero, you will not regret it. I played 36 out there twice last year in February and December. It is incredible.

Drew You're getting all the good courses listed here. I'll be out there as well the last week of March as Colorado is in a deep freeze! Enjoy the sunshine and luxury of playing this time of year.

So had a blast on my trip! Troon North took the cake as far as conditions...it was immaculate. The views at the We Ko Pa courses were out of this world. TPC was worth it I guess to say I played it, but I enjoyed the other courses just as well without the sticker shock. Definitely will be going back to play Quintero and Greyhawk. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions! Hit em Straight! DD

Headed back to Scottsdale again in a few months. Quintero and We-Ko-Pa in the heat!
  15. Another great course that most don’t know about is wickenburg ranch. It’s about an hour north of Phoenix, but well worth the drive. If you go, make sure you give yourself an extra hour or two to play the little wic. It’s an amazing par 3 course that winds around and outside bar.

Thanks for the recommendation, we've added it to our list as our new course for the trip!

Sad to hear ASU Karsten is going to be closing. I use to be an assistant there back in 2000. Lot of good memories with Paul Casey, Jeff Quinney, coach Randy Lien and the boys that played for ASU. Phil would come and practice all the time before he moved. Hard to imagine it will all be gone soon.

Sounds good man. I’m sure in the colder months here the desert will be calling.

Verde River is great to play before it goes private!
