A lot of great golf in the area. If you can get on Whisper Rock is amazing.

Phoenix/Scottsdale will have a lot of golf courses for you to play. But the Waste Management Phoenix Open is the last week of January/first week of February, so you won't be able to play TPC Scottsdale before that week of during that week.

But here are some courses that I would recommend (in no order):
    Papago
    Kierland
ASU Karsten (before it goes away)
    Raven
    Talking Stick
    Whirlwind
    Grayhawk
    The Phoenician
    Ocotillo (in Chandler)
Las Sendas (but this is a bit further drive, but worth it)

Let us know what you end up playing and how you liked the courses. But there are too many courses to pick from.

I've got two rounds at Ocotillo and one at Talking Stick reserved this week during The Phoenix Open. Can't wait to see green grass again!

I've been living in Phoenix for 3.5 years, played about 50 courses. My top 5 are:

    1. Quintero

    2. Grayhawk (Raptor & Talon) both are great courses, not sure if I prefer one over the other. But I always score better @ Talon

    3. We-Ko-Pa - Saguaro. I haven't played Cholla since the remodel

    4. Ak-Chin Southern Dunes

    5. Lookout Mountain - older, shorter course. Lots of fun and great views

So, great trip. I had a few hours to kill around PHX on Friday afternoon. I was able to walk seven at Legacy Club. Nice course but they were packed.

Troon North Monument was Saturday morning. Great shape but greens were slow. Forecaddie was nice for only $20. Course is not a great value. Green fees should be no more than $150.

Ak-Chin Southern Dunes is fantastic! Great shape and although 45 mins from PHX, worth the drive. Freddy Couples tribute to Royal Melbourne. He removed all Sonaran plants and brought in plants indigenous Melbourne. Absolute best value at $140 green fee.

  7. I really enjoyed playing both Troon courses, Greyhawk and The Boulders...
