  1. Hey Guys. Tore my ACL back in March and getting back out on the course. I have always been more of a walker than a rider, the problem I have now is my golf shoes (FJ PRO/SL) are not comfortable for walking on my knee. I have a pair of On cloud running shoes that I walked 9 holes with and felt great. Any of you guys use a good pair of tennis shoes rather than Golf shoes? Worried about my foot slipping in any wet conditions, but I don't play a ton when its wet anyways.

I went to the FJ Traditions. Great shoe. Super light weight and easy on the feet but have soft spikes for traction and a much more "traditional" look than the tennis shoe styles. Suggest you find a retailer and try on a pair. Quite a few Champions Tour players wearing them too.

Have you tried FJ Flex? They may give you the softer support you desire with some added traction. I've played in them many times and have no issues. Particularly if you opt for the Flex XP which are water resistant.

Accidentally, I forgot my shoes once and played in tennis shoes and that was pretty miserable. Mostly because it was first thing in the morning and I was slipping around on the dew and my feet were soaked.

The new Pro/SL Carbon spikeless has a Ortholie Impressions Fitbed, with extra depth last to accommodate thicker Fitbed for enhanced cushioning. (ORTHOLITE material can effectively reduce this impact, so this style is lightweight The shock-absorbing sports insole, while damping the shock, keeps the inside of the shoe as cool as possible to achieve the most comfortable foot feeling, so as to get the strongest support during long-term exercise.)

The new Tour Alpha has interchangeable spikes also has the Ortholite Inpressions Fitbed.

My recommendation would be to ask the folks that you are rehabbing thru which type of shoe you should be wearing on the course. Some traction or none at all. A friend of mine, who is a scratch golfer, wears OC shoes when he plays.

Two pair of FJ shoes you might want to consider are the Flex XP and the Fuel. They are both great for walking and perform well in damp conditions (morning dew, post light rain, etc...).

I say wear whatever works best for you. Because of old injuries, my feet are very sensitive to fit and support, and I like to walk as much as I can. I buy what I think feels comfortable after trying them on and walking around the golf shop for 15 minutes, and after playing a couple rounds most of them end up collecting dust in the closet. I have gone through a dozen pairs in the last 2 years, and some of them have been running shoes. Because of the torque and rotation they won't last as long as a quality golf shoe, and I do give up some of the wet grass traction, but my feet are better off for the sacrifice.

I play a lot of golf in my regular tennis shoes, swoosh Air Max. I have also heard that Sketchers actually make a great show for those with knee and hip struggles.
  8. I would wear whatever is most comfortable to you... I love my pro/sl carbon, but if they kept me from playing, they would be in the goodwill pile.
  9. Sorry to hear about your ACL, I tore mine back in 2014 and had surgery in 2015. I know the pain of trying to walk around a course. I have found Jordan golf shoes to be very comfortable and doesn't bother my knee as much when walking a course.

Maybe look at FJ cleat less versions... After having a repaired ACL, I wanted as much traction as possible to prevent slippage.
  11. The FJ Flex is just like a tennis shoe IMHO
  12. I’ve been wearing Puma Alphacat Disc for a few months, and they’re comfortable, but not great for walking. I’ve been thinking of pickup up a pair of FootJoy Pro SL, but like you, I was looking for something more sneaker-like.

I've tried tennis shoes but I slip too much, so I never used them again. I use Footjoy Pro SL (wide version), a couple Jordan's (12 low and 4's) and I have a couple swoosh Lunar Control 2's.

Find a pair of trail running shoes that are comfortable. The soles are very similiar to spikeless golf shoes.

Sorry to hear about your issue finding a comfortable shoe. May I suggest trying the FJ Fuel. This shoe is very stable and incredibly comfortable for walking. I really think you’ll like this option. My other recommendation would be to check out the FJ Flex. This is my everyday walking shoe on and off the course. Both are really solid options for someone who walks and is looking for max comfort with an injury. Good luck!

I have always been more of a traditionalist when it comes to golf shoes. Have worn Footjoy, and only Footjoy, my entire golfing life. I'd been typically wearing the DryJoys Tour models. Very classic. Every pair I owned was extremely comfortable right out of the box. Then the DJT was finally put to bed by FJ after over a decade of success with that model. They replaced it with the Premiere line. (Called the DryJoys Premiere.) I purchased a pair in the Premiere Packard design and another in the Tarlow design (a custom MyJoys version) as soon as they were released.

When I opened up my first pair of Packards, I was extremely surprised at how light they were. Much less weight than the DJT pairs I'd had over the years (which included probably 20-25 pairs during the period). Once I began wearing the new Packards, I realized that not only were these as good as the DJT line---styling and quality-wise--- they were even more comfortable to walk in, which is truly saying a lot. For anyone searching for a more classic looking, highly supportive , top-quality golf shoe, who wants to walk the course in comfort, these are the best ones out there. (Maybe that's why Tiger decided to give up his Swish shoes for FJ Packards after his accident.)

I done now about the ACL, but I am an amputee and had. bone fusion surgery in the remaining foot and I wear the ProSL Carbons with an orthopedic insert. and they are the best fitting shoe I have worn for a while. my reccomendation is just like your clubs, getting fitted for your shoes is just as important.

I have a few swoosh golf shoes but they are very narrow. I also have some Jordan golfs that great. My most comfortable shoe is the G/Fore MG4X2. They are like walking on clouds.

Hoka Challenger trail shoe. Loads of cushion and an aggressive tread pattern. Should work fine.
