I have been a proponent of wearing shorts on tour. Does anyone really think that DJ, Rory, Rickie or Matt looked unprofessional yesterday? I think not. I'm 67 years old and have been following this sport since the 1960's and have seen the evolution of many things in the sport. In my opinion it's time for this to evolve.

  2. I love the traditional aspect of golf, and paying homage to what was adds charm...but heat is no joke and pants can’t get any lighter! If safety is a factor, let those calves breath then I say!

Thought it was cool they wore shorts and carried their own bags....let's not beat this horse to death....with respect =)
  4. Frank,
    I'm 67 as well...
I don't mind shorts as long as they are not ridiculously baggy or impossibly tight.
As long as they are tailored it shouldn't be a problem, though some pro's may be well advised not to go there.
Personally speaking, I'll wear shorts, but it's not often warm enough in the UK. I wear them abroad, where nobody is likely to know me or complain about my short, fat, hairy legs!!

Nothing wrong with shorts in my book
  6. Yeah I wear shorts a lot. I wouldn't feel cheated watching the pros in tournaments wearing shorts.

A Green Jacket with a pair of shorts on??? That picture just doesn't seem right from a tradition aspect. I suppose they could go change into pants for the presentation of the Green Jacket.

Other than that I suppose shorts are fine but I would agree as others have said make them very uniform in style so everyone still looks professional.

Let them all wear shorts. The comfort of it is cool- pun intended.

i have to be honest, watching them play in shorts in a professional match would make it seem unprofessional lol.

its prob just something that needs to stick around and then we'd all get used to it at some point.

Weather should dictate wardrobe. If it’s 100 degrees then where shorts. The issue now will be players will wear them so tight they will look ridiculous.

Im way in on abandoning the dress code on tour altogether. let the players police themselves. if a guy wants to look like a jackass let him. hed only be hurting himself. I would bet that most guys would still want to look good and have enough respect for the game to do so with or without the rules. Shorts especially are a no-brainer

I seriously doubt that the clothing manufacturers that each player represents are going to supply their particular player with anything other than good looking and fitting outfits that reflect positively on the particular company and player.

The ladies have 4 options to wear, the guys should have 2.
