    Hey Team Titleist –

I came across some interesting statistics recently, courtesy of the National Hole-In-One Association. Would you believe that each year, around the globe,  golfers make about 150,000 holes-in-one?  That seems like an incredibly high number, until you consider that each year we collectively play an estimated 490 million rounds of golf. Before the math starts giving you a headache, let me boil those figures down to simpler terms.

For a Professional Golfer, someone who earns their living playing the game, the odds of making a hole-in-one are 2,500 to 1. To put that in perspective, that’s just a little better than the odds of a man being drafted by the NBA (3,333 to 1).

For a single-digit handicap player, the odds jump up to 5,000 to 1, sobering when you consider that's less likely than you naming your daughter "Maude" (4,300 to 1).

And for the vast majority of amateur golfers, the odds of making an ace climbs to about 12,500 to 1. In comparison, you have a better chance of winning an Oscar (11,500 to 1), finding a pearl in an oyster (12,000 to 1) or being hit by lightning in your lifetime — provided you live for about 80 years (12,000 to 1).

But as we all know, lightning does strike, and we have the proof on our Hole-in-One pages!

Read how other Team Titleist members have done it (maybe you’ll find a secret or two) and if you’re among those fortunate few who have recorded or even witnessed an ace, please share your story and your photos with us. We’d love to help celebrate your brush with perfection and you can also register for a personalized Titleist hole-in-one bag tag.

Thanks for the reminder of all the good stories, Rick. I am still on the chase for number 2.

Best one I remember from a friend, the rest of his group was struggling to hit the green, my friend stepped up and said, "ok, so you want to hit a high shot with about 5 yards of fade, land it just short of that ridge and let it trickle." He then proceeded to do exactly that, and it ended up going in. He nonchalantly turned around and said "see, just like that." and walked back to his bag.

So fortunate to have three. 30+ years for the first one and less than 2 years for the next two. Crazy game.

  7. I Had the perfect hole in one moment. On the tee with my dad and son, behind us on the green is my brother and nephew. I hit a sweet iron that hopped once hit the stick loud enough for everyone to look as the ball fell in. I will never forget that day or the look on the faces around me.
  8. Standing on the tee on a windy day, looking out at the green 213 yrds away with OB on the left I tell my playing partners, "I am going to hit this ball out over those fences of the left, have the wind carry the ball back on the green and it will roll in the hole!" They looked at me and stated "just hit the ball." So I did, out over the fences, the wind catches the ball, drops in over the greenside bunker, rolls across the green and in the hole. Cost me $450.00 in 1984 money.

  9. I have two great stories for hole in one. My first hole is one was witnessed by my wife and daughter and another couple on a blind 139 yd. par 3 in which we saw the ball headed to the flagstick but didn't know it went in. My daughter who is not a golfer didn't understand what the big deal was since that is what you are trying to do. It was made with a Titleist Professional 100 ball.

Second, my son in law made a hole in one during a wedding golf tournament while the videographer was filming the shot. He has video evidence and lifetime of memories of the shot using a Pro V.

I've average about 50 rounds of golf per year for the last 20 years and I am still waiting for my 1st hole-in-one!
    One day!

Happened August 8, 2013, 8th hole at Stonington Country Club, Stonington, CT. 167 yards uphill over water. One of the 2 harder par 3s on the course. A ProV1x numbered, of course, 1. I will always remember it. Thanks for this thread!!

A good friend of my who worked a semi private course had been after me to play his course for some time. He finally let me know that he was leaving the state for good (for a job in another state) and this would be the last chance I would have to play his course. So I made the journey to his course. His course was a links style course (no trees). It was a semi-windy morning when we played. The course had a signature island green. It was the first time I had ever played it. It was a two tier green, I just wanted to hit the middle get a par and keep moving. I took a nine iron and cut it into the wind hoping to land softly in the middle. It hit the top tier and rolled to the lower tier where the pin was. I will never forget the "clink" sound the ball made when it hit the pin and disappeared!!!! Not to many people in the bar so the round of drinks didn't cost a lot. Thank you NXT tour!!!!!!
  13. I’m a senior golfer. Started (gulp) 49 years ago at 16. I made my first ace 25 years ago and my last of 5 just four years past. Great experience each time but one stands out. My friend John hit before me a beautiful iron to about a foot. We thought it had a chance, but just as excited for John having an apparent lock on “closest to the pin” and a big birdie skin. My turn. A high drawing 9 iron and swish, nothing but net. John looked at me and said great shot ass h***. We cashed a great check that day and the rest of the fun was on me. 140 yds, Titleist proV1x, Osage National at lake of the Ozarks.
  14. Got my 1 hole-in-1 39 years ago! Shot 60 something for the nine. I was14. I am now a 3 handicap, come close many times, but this is still the most vivid memory from my early teens, until SHE showed up!
  15. I started playing golf when I was 8 years old in the Milwaukee County public junior golf program. That was 1951. It took until December 7, 2002 for my first ace, which I could not see go in. Then January 12, 2004 was my second which I did see go in. December 27, 2008 was number three. Number 4 came on October 26 2014. That one was very exciting as I had finished radiation for my second bout of lung cancer the year before. The only disappointment was the 1st and 4th were made on the same hole at Shadow Wood CC in Bonita Springs, FL but the 1st was with a 7 iron and the 4th with a 5 hybrid. Number 5, yes 5 came just last year on February 8, 2017. I sandwiched in between #3 and #4 with the most ignoble "ace" , a hole in 3 , on June 26, 2010 at the fabled Black Wolf Run course in Kohler, WI. I would like to note that I made that all of the aces with Titleist balls, which I keep playing and hoping for #6.

My first hole in one can with a few friends on a 152 yard par 3. The green was up on a steep grade. Hit my 8 iron and it was straight at the flag. You could hear the clank. When we got to the green the ball was not anywhere around. Lionel bent down and pulled the Titleist out of the hole. I have had 4 more since then. All with Titleist of course.
  17. What a day! Shot my first hole in one playing a round Memorial Day weekend with my Dad at The Rock golf course in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, SC!!! (Tommy Biershenks’ course; aka TopGolf Shotmakers contestant) Hole #11 124 yard Par 3 with a perfect gap wedge. Divot about 12 inches in front of the cup and after one hop the ball disappeared in the hole!

I’ve been lucky to have scored three holes in one during the last 55 years, but the most memorable occured in the San Diego area at a par three course in Mission Bay. The thrill was that my wife Carolyn were on our honeymoon camping in the area when I hit a 90 yard sand wedge into the hole on a short par three. My wife had no golf experience and was simply astounded to see that it was possible.

This one pictured was my fourth hole in one all using Titleist golf balls. I’ve been playing since I was 8 years old and I’m 73. Have literally 100’s of eagles and one double eagle at Cowan Creek GC, Georgetown TX. HIO’s Grandview GC in York, PA (2); Crystal Falls GC in Leander, TX and Highlands of Donegal, Mount Joy PA.
  21. I have been lucky enough to have 3. I can tell you the exact details about every one. Each one has a story. It is something you never forget. I have the golf balls sitting next to each other in my house. I kept telling my playing partners that I was going to get another this year. I had at least a half dozen cases where I missed within 6 inches, 2 hit the cup and stayed out.
