I’m sitting at D1 with a Diamana 70 on my GT2 18 fairway and a 3g weight.

My TSR1 23 fairway has a Diamana 72 and a 5g weight. D0.5.

I tried the 40g stock shaft and it felt whippy.

I got away from Bassara shafts 5 years ago on the driver and fairways and M60+ on the hybrids. Too easy to pull.

I use an S60+ R on the driver.

80g feels harsh.

I wanted to post a prelim follow up.

The fitter never cancelled the order, they showed up at my Club and I declined the package. The clubs were sent back. I've been asking the fitter to send me the data from my fitting to truly see any gains vs. the TSRs. Still nothing.

So, I found a new MMT40 shaft on eBay and it's due to arrive early next week. I figure I can compare with my AD DI5 shaft and see differences/similarities. I mentioned it during a lesson today and the teacher agreed with the testing. $100 vs. $1,450

I'll be sure to update on the results of my testing.

I forgot to add on my last post about swing speed...obviously the lighter you go the faster you swing speed should be in a test lab. However 35 vs 40, 40 vs 50 you will see a very small difference in mph, the bigger difference comes in the 40 vs 60....but you also need to consider swing weight of the club. If you are at D-1 and go to D-3 or vice versa this is going to affect your swingspeed dramatically...as well as your ability to hit the ball repeatedly on the center of the clubface.

The big difference in my experience between 40gr, 50gr and 60gr shafts is launch angle and torque. The lighter the weight the higher the launch (or at least the easier it is to make the launch angle higher) and the torque goes up as you go lighter which can make the dispersion slightly greater.

Thus, some people need the lightest weight Speed Mesh shafts at 35 and 40...while others need 50 or 60. By the way a 50 doesnt always weigh 50 sometimes it is 59....FWIW. Many ladies that are smaller need the 35 or 40 while other ladies can play the 60....it just depends.

Bottomline, you need to somehow hit these different shafts so you can determine what works best for you unless you have an endless supply of money and you can buy clubs with all these different shafts!!

I've tried lighter shafts from FreeFlex. They're a Korean company, akin to Autoflex. Use them in my fairway woods, and still swap them out in my driver as well. Really light weight, down to 38g, but still hold a tight dispersion.
Nice thing about them, is they will stand from a 75 mph club speed, up to 170 mph. Long drive guys like Seb Twaddel use them for their speed/accuracy. So a shaft like that should be useful while you're not at your strongest, to, well, your strongest !

I think the aerotech shafts are the best for dispersion. You can go from 70 gs tp 95 in the liter weight category. I tried the mmts and did not like the dispersion numbers. Best of luck.

Hi,
one rule that I heard is playing the lighter shaft that you can control.
Often a lighter shaft is giving more head speed, it is not always the case. There are always exceptions (fast tempo golfers are often in this class)

With a surgery to the rotator you must take some caution.
Ad Di 5 is consider a light shaft. But every golfers are different.

Take your time to heal your shoulder first and the swing speed will come back.

I have the speed mesh in TSR-1 hybrids/fairways. Fitted this year. I have a TSR-2 driver with a HZARDZ Red 50 g shaft from 2 years ago. This light shaft need is just a function of age. Next spring, I will be looking at the GT-1 or updating the TSR-2 with the speed mesh

It’s getting late in the year. Focus on your rehab and get fit next year? No telling how close you would be to last year going forward.
