The Titleist irons will be anywhere from 0.5 - 1.5 degrees more upright than most other irons.
Just curious if anyone knows

RE: Titleist iron lie angles - upright

So now be advised, on the next set of irons you get have your current irons checked for total lie (example- 61 degrees, 62 degrees, etc.). Then check the numbers on the new set to make sure that you don't over or under adjust. You can no longer assume anything.

RE: Titleist iron lie angles - upright

Thanks Dale. Yes, I am aware of that. But still curious ... all manufacturers must start somewhere ... with what they think is 'standard' or 'regular' or 'neutral' or 'most common' ..... so interesting to me that all other manufacturers I've checked .. have .5 - 1.5 degree flatter lie angles for their irons. Just figure there must be some kind of thought process or reason behind this ... on part of Titleist.

Plus ... some golf club pro shops sell their Titleist rental clubs or demo clubs for sale price at end of year .... and they are all 'standard' lie angles ... so would have to pay to get them bent or altered.

RE: Titleist iron lie angles - upright

Thanks Dale. I would say my natural shot shape is a draw and miss an over-draw or hook ..... and I know a more upright lie angle can promote this.

Thanks.

[/quote]
It's dumb. They changed the standard iron lie angle 1 degree more upright this past year. So, guys that were 2 degrees flat their whole lives are now SOL because irons can only be bent 2 degrees flat, which is essentially 1 degree flat for previous specs. Meanwhile, you can go 4 degrees upright. Doesn't make sense.

RE: Titleist iron lie angles - upright

This is why fitting is more important than ever. Every company is building their own specs in accordance with club designers and engineers. When I first started playing golf, a PW had 50 degrees of loft. Today, that's a strong gap wedge. Same with lie angles. I remember Hogan believed in flatter lie angles.

RE: Titleist iron lie angles - upright

A fitting will show whether you need your Titleist irons with a flatter lie and can be ordered custom built that way with no additional cost.
