While in Memphis this past week I was not able to play golf, but got up every morning and went to this great driving and practice range about 25 minutes from where we were staying. Practice, practice, practice. Was working on my irons hitting over a hundred balls a day. Accuracy was my main goal and timing. They had a monitor at each bay so I could check my progress regarding distance and accuracy, which were my two major concerns. Still off about a full club after surgery.

Got to meet the owner of the range and the last day found an old Titleist putter that I was considering purchasing from someone who was playing there and was curious about he value. Was asking him when he brought out a Scotty Cameron 2001 Newport Two Pro Platinum which was in good condition and I made him a cash offer and he said sure. Checked the PGAvalueguide.com once I got home and had paid the trade in value for it. I had figured a fair price looking at it. Very happy with it. Tried it out and has a very nice feel for a putter that old. Thought of reselling it but may game it for a while. Guess my lucky day. Passed on the other Titleist putter.

  2. In my opinion the older 1997 to 2005 Scottys are the best...hold that putter, name that putter, even restore that putter...but never let it go!

I have a collection of Scotty putters, most of which are older models. There are a few that seem to rotate in and out of my bag and it's hard to pick a favorite. The older model Squareback 2, Red X double bend, and a Red X 2 center shaft are still as good or better than any of the new models I have in the putter "closet".

I have one of the Scotty Newport Mil-Spec 2001 Prototypes in my bag sense the day I was at the Titleist Performance Institute in Carlsbad. I was invited by the PNW Rep to go, spent a few days there. While putting with one of the prototypes the tech started bending it for me, after a little smack talking and laughing back and forth, I told the tech that it was perfect! He said he'll have one made up.... I looked at him and said... This ones going home with me!! It took the tech a few phone calls, but they ended up giving it to me on the house. It is still in my bag and I have never used any other putter, not even for fun.

Chuck, the old PP2 tri soles are really good putters. I used one for years and regret that I sold it to a young guy that was looking for one. My gamer is currently a old Mil spec which I love, I've changed the paint fill over the years. I would hang onto that one. I've tried many newer models but none compare to my Mil spec. in my eyes.
  10. Putting is all about confidence. If it sits right and fits your eye play it. Clubs are meant to be played

Very nice find Chuck! Glad to hear you are starting to get back into the swing and hit some balls again! You will be bombing them again very soon!! One of my favs was the Circa 62 line from about 2006 and always regret not pulling the trigger on that back in day.
