  1. Hey guys,

With all this time on our hands, I'm looking at really giving my clubs a good clean. My question is what does everybody recommend when cleaning a set of 714 AP2's? I'm looking to try and get a deep clean and really make them shine. Is there anything you guys use out there besides the regular soap and water to make the irons shine?

    Thanks in advance.

    You can use bartenders helper.
I use it to remove all the rust on my raw wedges...I like to see the rust grow on the wedges.
Also you can try using a power washer with soap and low pressure...gets the job done.

    Cheers,

The faces are forged on AP2s so I would avoid any wire brushes. Nylon brushes are fine.

I would also be careful of any cleaners that have an abrasive compound in it. AP2s are chrome-plated. Fine scratches can be made with abrasive cleaners, though not likely very visible. But, think of using a very fine sand paper on your shiny chrome. I wouldn't.

Also, over time, the plating can crack from use and even start chipping off. Abrasive cleaners don't typically contribute to this, but could make it worse if they are already chipping. The plating can also easily cut you while cleaning, so inspect them before rubbing a soft rag over each with a bare hand. My old AP2-716 PW got me a few times while cleaning.

BTW, a pressure washer will also lift any loose plating, as well as some of the cosmetic elements on the back. So, be aware if you use one.

I fill a bucket up with warm water and mild dish soap and let the clubs sit in there for 10mins to loosen the dirt.

I then scrub each club head and grip with a soapy nail brush then rinse down.

Leave standing on a towel to dry off whilst you go through the rest of your set then dry the grip, shaft and head.

    Come up like new everytime.
