Is there a difference between club length and shaft length? Have 816 H2 23 degree and want to replace the shaft and not sure what length to get. The specs say the 23 degree standard length is 39.5. But not sure if the club head adds to the length of the club and I should be looking for a 39" shaft.

Hybrid shafts usually are either 41 or 42 inches and are then tipped the required amount to match each specific hybrid and once installed in the club the shaft/club length is cut to the required length. The listed measurement of Titleist clubs is the length of the shaft from the butt to the ground with the finished length being longer when you add the grip butt cap- an addition which varies approximately between 1/8-1/4". If you wanted to know whether a previously cut shafts will meet the required/wanted length of your hybrid you would add to its length the distance from the bottom of the bore to the ground to verify that it meets your requirements. Of course if you have the shaft in hand you could insert it and have it measured to see if your required length can be met.
