This thread brings back some really fond memories. I went through 2 sets of 690.mb irons. Loved them!! Have found nothing since that came close to the feel and performance. Carded the second ace of my life with the first set of 690.mb's. That was in 2004. Filled out the on-line information and rec'd a very nice "Hole In One" bag tag from Titleist.

When I virtually wore the grooves off the second set, I tried a couple other brands of forged blades. Nothing felt the same. I had an old set of "Brand X" irons in the basement that had been wanting back into my bag. I put those in play and they've been in the bag for 3 seasons. Have been admiring the 710mb irons. Assistant pro at our local course bags them. At my age, I had pretty well decided the current irons would complete all the swings the Good Lord has put in this body. However, the competitive juices begin flowing every time I see, or hear of, the 710mb irons. I would believe there is a set in my future... soon! Why, Titleist, did you have to bring out a set that so closely resembles the sacred 690.mb's?????

I might give the 710's a run. I have done everything I can think of to my current irons, yet they just don't feel the same. The swingweight seems to be the same for the 710 and my 690mb's, both are listed as D2.

For anyone that has made the switch to the 710s, have you noticed any feel difference. This seems to be my main problem. Other clubs just don't feel the same when I swing. Maybe it is because of the brand difference. I need to find someone around my area that has the 710s in the fitting clubs. I think that is going to be my best option, if they feel the same, they will be in the bag.

And I agree about getting fitted, but I have been fitted for all 3 of my latest iron sets. All 3 different companies and the same result. It seems they take some measurements, hand me a club and say here, this is what you should be hitting. I am going to take my 690mb's to a club maker I trust and have the specs double checked. This way after I hit the 710's, and if they feel right, I can order based on my specs from my previous clubs.

i will third the 710's, i played the 690mb's for the last two years and switched to 710's this year. i feel they are the same if not better, plus getting them custom fit erases any minor problems you may have.

I'll second the 710 mb's. I'm going with a 710 mb/ap2 combo set. Don't expect to be disappointed one little bit.

I also play the 690mb's and like you can't find anything better. not to contradict the titleist rep but i've known a lot of people who had great results refinishing their blades.

Looking at the Darrell Survey, you will see that about 95% of our blade players have made the switch to the 710 MB irons. Although the AP2's are the most played model, the 710 MB's are a very close second.

In our updated version of your 690MB's, we brought out the 690.MB's and made the switch to more upright and 1/4" longer. Players have been getting taller and bigger which is what precipitated that move. You should not have a problem moving into the new 710 MB irons matching the swingweight along with your specs. Each iron can be bent individually but we bend in 1/2°s only so we cannot bend 1/5 of a degree (typo?).
